On 9-1-1: Lone Star, Are Nancy and Mateo Going to Break Up?

I loved this week's 9-1-1: Lone Star episode Road Kill. From the writing to the storyline to the acting to the directing, absolutely everything about this episode was fantastic. But I do have a question about Nancy Gillian and Mateo Chavez, what is going on with them? Just when their relationship is slowly starting to grow on me, there's a chance that they might be heading for a break up. It's hard to overlook how the writing for this episode had Mateo being extremely worried about Marjan Marwani. Which is understandable but there seemed to be more to it than just that. Because all the characters were worried that something bad must have happened to her when Marjan still hadn't arrived back in Austin, TX when she was supposed to.

(9-1-1: Lone Star season 4 episode 9: Road Kill)

The problem wasn't Mateo being worried, it was that it felt like the writing is setting up Mateo possibly having romantic feelings for Marjan. With Nancy seeming to be picking up on that and possibly becoming jealous or insecure. However, since a scene between Nancy and Mateo in the hospital waiting room where she said that "You clearly have feelings for her." was cut (see the second video below), it made all of Mateo's and their scenes together seem unfinished. Especially since in the waiting room, they were clearly sitting away from each other while the other two couples (Grace and Judd Ryder and Carlos Reyes and T.K. Strand) were sitting together. So, did they have a fight, which resulted in them wanting to sit away from each other.

I wonder if this storyline is the beginning of the end of Nancy and Mateo's relationship? Or is this just a little bit of romance drama that will lead to them strengthening their relationship? I don't know if this is leading towards a break up but I hope it doesn't. But if it does, I really hope the Showrunner and writers don't trying to put Mateo and Marjan together because they have always had this big sister/little brother dynamics instead of anything remotely romantic.
