During this moment, Hen was still thinking about the emergency call from earlier where a mom had needed medical care. However since the mom had to go to the hospital, that meant her son Leo would end up having to temporarily go into a group home or foster care until his mom is better. But since 9-1-1 is a feel good show, the mom was better and surprised her son at the 118 fire station's Holiday party. Back to Hen and Karen, thinking about Leo and his situation would inspire them to become foster parents. They also did something really sweet with a lot of those gifts, they gave them to the children from the group home who attended the fire station's party.
Hen: Did we mean to buy Denny this many gifts?
Karen: Well, I started stashing them in the attic because he was snooping, and I think I lost track of how much I bought.
Hen: Do you ever think about where Denny would be if we hadn't stepped in? Would he have ended up in a group home too?
Karen: I don't know. Maybe.
Hen: That kid doesn't know how lucky he is.
Karen: Of course not. He's a kid. Just one more thing to be thankful for this holiday.
