Juneteenth honors the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans especially the enslaved in Texas (and other southern states) who unfortunately didn't get told in 1863 that they were free. It wasn't until 1865 that the enslaved Black people in Texas were free and that was due to 2,000 union troops going to the state to free those who should have already been freed. This holiday is about celebrating freedom and the continued fight for all aspects of it.
Happy Juneteenth! How are you celebrating the holiday?
