I'm continuing with my challenge of watching all of The Worst Witch adaptations. I finished Weirdsister College which I really enjoyed, I wish there were more episodes especially with that ending. I like that Mildred Hubble as a college student was really growing into being an adult. Yeah, she still made mistakes but she was continuing to learn. Especially learning not to be a doormat. Meanwhile, Ethel Hallow was still a jerk but I guess she was starting to change near the end of the series. Not sure she can truly be a friend nor trusted since most of the time she only help Mildred when it benefited herself. It was interesting seeing Enid Nightshade make a guest appearance and overstay her welcome when she unexpectedly visited Mildred at college. You see how she changed her appearance (goth punk) but she still needed to learn to take responsibility for her actions, which I'm glad she eventually learned.
Anyway, so now I will move on to The New Worst Witch (2005) TV series. It's the second spinoff from The Worst Witch (1998) TV series with the first being Weirdsister College. The New Worst Witch only stayed on for two seasons as it follows Mildred's cousin Henrietta "Hettie" this time around at Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches. I'm sure Henrietta will probably end up causing just as much trouble (if not more) as her older cousin did. From the promo picture, I see Deirdre Swoop and I believe she is now a teacher at the Academy. It will be interesting to see her approach at teaching. I can't wait to start watching this series, I'll probably start watching it later today.
After I finish watching The New Worst Witch, I'll only have The Worst Witch movie (1986) left to watch. Anyone else watching or have watched all of The Worst Witch adaptations? Did you have a favorite?
The New Worst Witch
Description:
The New Worst Witch continues on from the 1998 The Worst Witch TV series which was based on books by Jill Murphy. This time, it's no longer Mildred 'Millie' Hubble but her cousin Henrietta 'Hettie' Hubble who is causing trouble at Cackles Academy.
