Happy Fandom Friday, I am posting this early because I just have too many thoughts about last night's 9-1-1 episode Handle with Care (season 9 episode 10):
Edit: To add that despite being disappointed with the writing for the ninth season of 9-1-1, I shouldn't have focused on the actress' appearance. And as I stated below it is refreshing to see an actress who is aging naturally. So, I appologize for making a portion of this about someone's looks.
- I'm not one to judge someone's looks or appearance but why is the therapist Alex Doyle that the writers on 9-1-1 are possibly (most likely) setting Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz up with so ugly? She's looks ways older and uglier than any of his love interests have ever been. I can't believe they had Abigail refer to Alex as being "pretty". Abigail I know you have been traumatized by your parents but do you also need glasses? Because is the pretty in the room with us. And in what universe is Alex considered pretty. She's homely at best and fugly at worst. The only way she's considered pretty is if you've never seen any of Eddie's past love interests. As well as there being no more women (or anyone in general) on the show. And not to mention, she is so boring. And I thought Eddie having no chemistry with Marisol was bad but him and Alex are even worse. So, ugly, boring and no chemistry, that's usually not a good combination. But for 9-1-1 that's down right perfect to be Eddie's love interest. Usually, they are just boring and lack chemistry but this is a new low by casting someone who looks like that. You're telling me there were no pretty actresses they could have been cast for this role. While it's refreshing to see an actress who doesn't have a face full of plastic surgery, fillers and Botox, however, she's still very homely for a love interest.
If they didn't want to actually follow through and let Eddie be with Evan "Buck" Buckley (the character he actually has amazing chemistry with) they may as well have brought back Dr. Ana Flores. They at least had some chemistry, not much but at least some. Why is it lately they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for Eddie's love interests? First, Marisol and now Alex. I guess since Buck had an ugly, boring, no chemistry boyfriend, now it's Eddie's turn to have an ugly, boring, no chemistry girlfriend. So, I guess Eddie and Alex are going to get together after she helps him find his son Christopher. The sad thing is there will probably be a scene with Eddie, Chris and Alex before we ever get a scene with Eddie, Chris and Buck this season. That's so disappointing, it makes no sense for Buck not to be there helping Eddie find Chris but okay for some random therapist who is bad at her job to be the one helping. Fans have been asking for Buck and Eddie to be together for years. And instead of seeing the potential, the Showrunner and writers would rather continue to put them with random love interests.

- I keep seeing where fans are saying that 9-1-1 is probably getting cancelled. I feel like if the show is renewed for a 10th season it will probably be the finale season. Because why does the writing for this ninth season really feel like the writers just don't care about the characters or the stories. You can really tell that they just don't care and are just writing any old thing and don't care if it makes any sense at all. For instance, when did the late Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash ever been shown using a pocket/utility knife in the show. Especially one that is so revered that his widow Athena Grant gave that knife to her son Harry Grant who is now a probationary firefighter. Did I somehow overlook a scene of Bobby using a pocket/utility knife? I get honoring Bobby but with a knife that was never shown on screen. I could see her giving Harry, one of Bobby's aprons or his set of cooking knives or maybe even a cookbook since Bobby loved to cook before ever seeing her give Harry a pocket/utility knife that was never shown on screen.

(9-1-1 season 9 episode 10: Handle with Care)
- I can't get over how bad the writing for Henrietta "Hen" Wilson is this season, because how could the writers have her saying that her best friend and now 118 Fire Captain Howard "Chimney" Han is worse at being captain than that evil, racist former 118 Captain Vincent Gerrard. Like, seriously, Chimney could never be worse than that. Chimney being concerned about Probationary fire fighter Harry and making him the man behind at the station is not the same as when Gerrard wouldn't let Chimney out on emergencies when Chimney first started working at the 118. One is out of concern the other was out of hate. I really wish the writers would stop ruining Hen's character, this is getting ridiculous.
- One last thing, when is May Grant going to have a storyline. There are eight episodes left for this season and aside from helping at the fire station during the four part opener, she has done absolutely nothing else. During the four part opener, many fans including myself thought they were setting her up to be a paramedic but instead went with Harry becoming a firefighter. So other than helping at the fire station, she's had nothing else going on other than being a supportive character despite being a main character. I just wonder if and when May will have a storyline this season.
