Book Review: Starve vol #1

Book: Starve volume #1 (issues #1-5) by Brian Wood with illustrations by Danijel Zezelj

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication: Available now

Description:

Once the world's most famous chef, Gavin Cruikshank's been in a self-imposed exile for years. His little foodie television program has since evolved into STARVE, an arena sport that pits chef against chef for the pleasure of their super-rich patrons. It's a stain on a once-noble profession, and Chef Gavin is ready to go to war to stop it. Two things stand in his way: his arch rival Roman Algiers, and his adult daughter Angie, who probably just wants her dad back and acting normal.

Rating: 1 star (Did Not Finish)

Review:

Okay, this is not a long review because I couldn't even finish reading the first issue. It was so boring and the writing was flat and dry. It's very slow moving with uninteresting characters. I also was not a fan of the artwork, it was too rough and indistinguishable.

This story is about Gavin Cruikshank, a famous chef who decided to go into exile. But eventually he is brought back to the United States by an network executive to finish tapping his cooking show STARVE. And blah, blah, blah.

I wanted to read this because the description made it seem interesting but the story was not even remotely entertaining. So in the end, this wasn't for me.
