The Book Girl's Book Club Pick for July: 1872 (Marvel)

I'm excited to say that I'm restarting the Book Girl's Book Club because unfortunately last year I didn't have enough time to focus on the one I created for Goodreads. Over the years, I've been a member of various book clubs (big, small, in person, online, themed, general, etc.) and I enjoyed all the experiences (good and bad) I gained from being a part of them and that made me want to create one of my own. I decided my first one would be online but life sort of got in the way of keeping it going. However, now that I have the time, I decided to just run it from my blog.

Interacting with this book club is going to be different since I don't have the Goodreads discussion board. But since I will be posting the selection, currently reading, a review, etc. for the book club we can leave comments as a way to further to discuss the book.

The book I picked for July will be 1872: Warzones! I wanted to post it now to give everyone who wants to participate enough time to get the book. Despite not being a fan of westerns, I picked this book because the description seemed really interesting and plus it has the Avengers.

Book: 1872: Warzones! (issues #1-4) by Gerry Duggan with illustrations by Nik Virella

Description:

In the Battleworld zone of 1872, Sheriff Steve Rogers faces corruption and fear in the boom town of Timely. Can Anthony Stark pull Rogers' fat from the fire? Probably not, since the only thing he seems capable of pulling is the cork from a bottle. Things in Timely are bad, and getting worse -- and when a stranger named Red Wolf is brought into town, Timely will be changed forever...for anyone left standing when the dust clears, that is! Can justice trump the Dead Man's Hand composed of Bullseye, Elektra, Grizzly, Doc Ock and ringleader Wilson Fisk? And what concoction is the timid Dr. Banner cooking up in his apothecary? Plus: Classic appearances of Will Talltrees, the Marvel Universe's modern Red Wolf!

Includes: Avengers #80 and material from Marvel Comics Presents #170
