New Music Purchase: Avengers: Endgame Soundtrack

I really love listening to soundtracks and I just ordered the CD for the Avengers: Endgame soundtrack by Alan Silvestri. While I watching Endgame, I was so busy concentrating on the movie that I wasn't paying as much attention to the music. However what I heard sound really good which is why I decided to buy the soundtrack.

I know I could have ordered it digitally but I've mentioned before that I like to buy the CD if it's available. With our world being so digital, it's nice to have the physical copy whenever possible. I forgot to post that I bought the Captain Marvel soundtrack by Pinar Toprack back in March. Unfortunately, it's only available in digital, however it's still a really good soundtrack.

DVD Tuesday: Avengers: Infinity War

I feel like the word epic has been so overused and misused to the point that it now has no impact or meaning. But at the moment that's the only word I can think of to describe Avengers: Infinity War. This is a movie I have to see again, it was just that good.

Review:

Westerns are not my usual genre but I figured you couldn't go wrong with an Avengers story. And I was so right, 1872 was amazing.

The Book Girl's Book Club Pick for July: 1872 (Marvel)

On June 18th, I had posted that I was restarting my book club in July and included the book club pick. I'm happy that The Book Girl's Book Club has officially restarted today, and here again is the book for July: 1872. This Marvel comic book is available in either paperback or digital.

To give everyone who wants to participate enough time to acquire and read the book, I will post my review for each month on the 15th for medium to smaller books and on the last day of the month for medium to larger books. Fashion Meets Comics: Avengers Overall Shorts

These Avengers denim overalls are so cute, I love finding clothes (other than t-shirts) that feature comic book illustrations. The characters featured on this are: Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk.

I think this would be perfect for those hot summer days or as a casual weekend outfit. My summer fashion tends to be super comfy like flowy dresses, rompers, t-shirts or tank tops with shorts, skirts or jeans. Because when it's hot outside the last thing I want to deal with are clothes that are confining and these overalls look totally comfy to wear.

The Book Girl's Book Club Pick for July: 1872 (Marvel)

I'm excited to say that I'm restarting the Book Girl's Book Club because unfortunately last year I didn't have enough time to focus on the one I created for Goodreads. Over the years, I've been a member of various book clubs (big, small, in person, online, themed, general, etc.) and I enjoyed all the experiences (good and bad) I gained from being a part of them and that made me want to create one of my own. I decided my first one would be online but life sort of got in the way of keeping it going. However, now that I have the time, I decided to just run it from my blog.

Interacting with this book club is going to be different since I don't have the Goodreads discussion board. But since I will be posting the selection, currently reading, a review, etc. for the book club we can leave comments as a way to further to discuss the book.

Toy Corner: Funko Black Widow (Avengers: Infinity War)

Every time I say I'm going to cut back on buying more Funkos I end up seeing ones that I want, like this Black Widow Funko. I really like this one, it looks like Natasha is ready for a fight. I have to add this to my collection.

Weekend Film: Avengers: Infinity War

I mentioned in a Geek on a Budget post that I don't buy movie tickets online (it's saves money) which means I won't be able to see Avengers: Infinity War this weekend because I know it's sold out. I already checked with a couple of theatres and it is.

I'll see it whenever I get the chance to, anyway here's the trailer. I still think Thanos looked better at the end of the first Avengers movie, I don't know why they decided to go with this redesign. He looks awful.

I don't know how many times I've watched The Avengers movie and wished Captain America had a better suit. I do wonder why this suit did not get approved, it looks so much better than the one that actually appeared in the movie.

Review:

Fury's Big Week did a terrific job of tying in Marvel's Phase One movies: Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger while setting everything up for The Avengers movie.

Director Nick Fury had a very busy week trying to keep everything from going sideways. There were several rather immediate problems that were at the forefront for S.H.I.E.L.D.. First was keeping tabs on Tony Stark who was quickly self-destructing. But with Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff) undercover at Stark Industries, she provided plenty of information to Fury about Stark's increasing erratic behavior. A S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist determined Tony was being poisoned by the palladium seeping through his arc reactor.

Next was Agent Phil Coulson stumbling upon an atmospheric discovery out in New Mexico. He was tasked with taking a team out there to investigate the situation and to keep an eye on Dr. Jane Foster who was already there studying the phenomenon. Fury also sent Hawkeye (Clint Barton) out there for further assistance. The last problem had Black Widow being tasked with monitoring General Ross' continued pursuit of Bruce Banner.

Every incident showed that S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to need help down the line because dealing with monsters, gods and high powered tech suits was going to require a bit more power. And after putting out all of those fires, Fury was attempting to find Captain America who was believed to have crashed somewhere in the arctic. All of that aside he still had to deal with the bureaucracy of the World Security Council who want him to divert attention towards activating the Tesseract.

I like this because it felt like I was reading all the scenes that could have been included in the movies. The other heroes (Iron Man, Hulk and Thor) are shown but Fury, Coulson, Black Widow and Hawkeye get the focus in this as they try to deal with all of the problems that keep popping up.

I may have waited a while to read this but I'm glad I finally did. It's a solid story with a good amount of action scenes, it's very behind the scenes of how S.H.I.E.L.D. operates.

Video: Captain America's Fight Scenes

From punching Nazis in Captain America: The First Avenger to fighting Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, this is a good compilation of nearly all of Captain America's fight scenes from the movies.

Steve's fighting style is very scrappy, I feel like he pretty much taught himself how to fight. He did get a little bit of basic training while in the Army but once he became Captain America he was fighting with everything he had. So his moves are not perfect nor polished but kind of knock-down, drag-out at times using his enhanced strength to his advance to end the fight.
