Book Review: Watchers

Book: Watchers by Dean Koontz

Description:

On his thirty-sixth birthday, Travis Cornell hikes into the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. But his path is soon blocked by a bedraggled Golden Retriever, who will let him go no further into the dark woods.

That morning, Travis had been desperate to find some happiness in his lonely, seemingly cursed life. What he finds is a friend, a dog of alarming intelligence and a threat that could only have come from the darkest corners of man's imagination.

Rating: 4 stars

My Review:

I really enjoyed reading the Watchers, it was a real page turner. Full of suspense and a great mystery. I just couldn't put it down. Even with some of the horror, it had a lot of humor and heart. The book was very well written and had a great story. It had me really wanting to know what was going to happen with each character.

The story centers around two scientifically enhanced animals - one is a Golden Retriever and the other is rather unidentifiable - that escaped from a top secret government lab. From the minute the main character Travis Cornell finds the dog his life starts to change. There were a lot of interconnecting stories going on that help create a very interesting story. This was really great.

So far this has been the only Dean Koontz book that I have read but I think I would like to read some of his other books.
