Does DC Comics Hate Lois Lane?

Does DC Comics hate Lois Lane? It makes me wonder with the way she continues to be written in the New 52 and with an executive making statements that she was just a "trophy wife" (as if). Lois is intelligent, driven, compassionate and fearless. I highly doubt a "trophy wife" would be working as a reporter and risking her life to get to the truth. However, DC Comics continues to showcase their poor treatment of Lois Lane.

In the newly released Superman issue #13 (see the first two pictures below), Lois is far too busy worrying about moving in with her boyfriend than she is about hard hitting news. This new Lois has no problem peddling puff pieces and even waves off Clark's complaints about the issue.

Lois Lane was considered to be one of the greatest reporters in the news industry and this is how they have chosen to write her as a corporate sellout. Lois along with Clark would both be complaining about the decline of good news stories - and not to mention Perry White. She would have never compromised her journalistic integrity just to get more readers or in her current case more viewers. It's like they feel as if the only way to boost Clark is by downplaying Lois.

A quote taken from another one of my post "Is The New DC Comics Promoting Sexism? or Simply Don't Understand Women?":

I feel like Lois has lost many of her characteristics and personality traits that have made her popular. For instance, she has lost her go-getter attitude and now with her job promotion she's no longer a reporter. She no longer goes out there trying to find the truth and doing whatever it takes to get to the truth for her article. Now she just sits behind her desk as an executive. It's like DC said lets just get the little lady out of the way. But with her personality, can you really see her being happy sitting back while others get to do all the work.

It's sad that they are even going back rehashing Lois' words from the Superman: Wedding Album and now giving them to Clark in issue #13 (see the last two pictures below). In Superman: WA, Lois was attempting to inspire Clark to let him know how much of a difference he was making as a journalist. While in Superman #13, it just comes across as if Clark is the only one who cares about seeking the truth in journalism and everyone else is basically selling out. Plus, it's too wordy.

I feel like DC Comics has been trying to diminish Lois' role in the Superman story by writing her in such a poor way to justify putting Clark with Diana. You would think with a character like Lois Lane, she would be treated with more respect than she's currently receiving. She was a hero just as much as Superman but without wearing a cape. Now she's just another poorly executed character brought to us by DC Comics.

Totally agree with everything you have written. It is a strong case for Lois to have her own book now, cmon!! I can think of a dozen plots and ways to do it!

Thank you for replying.

I agree Lois should have her own comic book. They would have to get a writer who understands the character and not write her as she currently is.

Also, your picture of Lois Lane was really amazing.

Great Scott! Now Lois needs rescued from the evil executives at DC Comics!

As much as I'd love a Lois Lane comic; I sure don't want this current crop at DC touching her with a ten foot pole. They really, truly, are completely out of touch with what it is like to be a tough, highly intelligent, ambitious, professional woman in the USA.

Well tigerwombat, the 75th anniversary of Action #1 is tomorrow and DC has made no attempt to include Lois Lane in their upcoming variant covers for Superman unchained.

I guess they don't think she's worthy but the fans do and we plan to celebrate her as well.
