Where is the Real Wonder Woman in the New 52?

Illustration: Wonder Woman issue #17

So Orion gave Diana a slap on her butt and she does absolutely nothing about it. Really, Wonder Woman doesn't do anything about being disrespected. She gave one angry 'What The' and nothing else.

Where is the real Wonder Woman? Even though Brian Azzarello's WW isn't as dimwitted as the Justice League version, she's still not the Wondie of old who wouldn't let something like this go by without dealing with it. I also would like to think the old Orion wouldn't have done something so disrespectful either. It's disappointing to see something like this happen to Wondie in her own book and she doesn't tell off the womanizing jerk. She wouldn't even need to fight him (that would be useless and undignified, she is a Princess by the way) but she should have told him off (in a firm but assertive voice) then went back to dealing with the issue at hand.

Neither versions of Wonder Woman in the new 52 are my favorite but at least the one in her own book is tolerable. There are things I don't like about the Azzarello WW series such as his destruction of the Amazon's origin story (making them nothing more than rapist and murders) and making Zeus Diana's father. Not to mention, Diana isn't as smart and take charge as she used to be.

It's not just Lois Lane that's being treated poorly in the New 52, it's Wonder Woman as well. From that faux-mance of a relationship with Superman to the horrendous way she is being written in JL. DC Comics has no clear understanding of Wonder Woman and so she's just being written in any old way they choose.

That's no way to treat an iconic character like this. Why do I have to keep addressing that when reguarding the new 52?
