Book: The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus book #2) by Rick Riordan
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
I have to say, this was simply amazing. It was a heart pounding thrilling adventure and I can't wait to read the next book. I have said this before, Rick Riordan has a way of writing these amazing adventures and creating this wonderful characters that have you completely captivated. This was great.
The first book in the series, The Lost Hero followed Jason Grace a Roman demigod on his adventure with the Greek Camp Half-blood. The second book had Percy Jackson (minus his memory) as he embarks on an adventure at the Roman Camp Jupitor.
The story began with Percy trying to get away from a pair of angry gorgons who had been trying to kill him. With no idea of who he really is and the only thing he knows is that he must reach a certain camp. After a narrowing escape but with still two very angry gorgons on his trail, Percy was just about to reach the entrance to the camp, when he was stopped by an old woman in need of help. Even without his memory, Percy is a hero and although he's has to get away from those monsters he's still willing to help. The woman turned out to be Hera (or Juno, her Roman name), giving him a choice, to either take the easy way out by escaping to the sea and live out his life (minus his memories) or go to the camp where he is sure to meet with danger and possible death but he would get his memory back.
Percy is not the type of person to take the easy way out and as he made his way to the camp entrance he met the two people who would soon be just as important to him as Annabeth and Grover. Hazel Leveque and Frank Zhang. They were a part of the losing team at Camp Jupitor but they were far from being losers. However, they both had secrets that could hinder the very deadly quest the three were set to go on.
I don't want to say any more about the book, I certainly don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it yet. But it's really good and filled with a lot of twists and turns that will have you totally hooked. This does end on sort of a cliffhanger but it's a complete story that sets you up for the next book.
