Comic Book News: Lois Lane, New Marvel TV shows and more

Here is some of the latest CBN going around:

** Lois Lane will be getting a one-shot double issue in February and it will be written by Marguerite Bennett. It will be titled "Superman: Lois Lane #1". According to an interview on ComicVine, the author said:

"Lois' tale is an adventure story -- a sci-fi noir, if you will. Lois Lane is the first lady (queen? khaleesi?) of DC Comics, and I was in fits to offer up a story worthy of her," Bennett told Comic Vine. "There’s an elegance to the structure and a poignancy to the plot that I hope won’t strike a nerve so much as twist it, and leave our readers avid for more".

Description:

Lois Lane is known for chasing down stories — but what happens when the story is her family? As her father gains more power in the government, Lois’s sister Lucy has become involved with a deadly drug scene! Meanwhile, Lois thought she was rid of the influence of Brainiac, but now she finds that the the computer tyrant of Colu is calling out to her again!

I'm excited about this and can't wait to read it. I really hope DC Comics realize that fans are tired of Lois Lane being pushed to the sidelines and want more for her character.

** Netflix and Marvel are teaming up to create four superhero shows. Marvel Studios announced that four new TV series and a mini-series will debut on Netflix in 2015. And one that will be getting a show will be one of the most boring characters ever, Jessica Jones. I would rather see Storm, Rogue or Electra have a show instead of Jessica. The other characters that will have shows are: Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and the mini series will be titled The Defenders. My opinion aside about JJ, it's nice that more characters are getting a chance to get promoted more.

**  It's a sad day for Supergirl fans because DC Comics maybe turning her into a Red Lantern. And seriously I have no idea why. It's bad enough they have her as an angry teen with no real character development besides being angry, now they want to make her even more angry. Why?

Anyway here's the cover and description:

Green Lantern/Red Lantern #28 by Robert Venditti and Charles Soule with art by Billy Tan and Alessandro Vitti

Green Lantern cover by Billy Tan and Red Lanterns cover by Stephen Segovia

Description:

With dozens of sectors in open rebellion against the Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan is faced with a crisis in the sector most important to him: 2814, home of Earth...as well as Ysmault, home of the Red Lanterns. Hal made a dangerous bargain with Guy Gardner, and now it's time to pay up! Plus: Guy and the Red Lanterns take over policing Sector 2814! And you'll want to keep reading Red Lanterns next month to see what happens to their newest member: Supergirl!

Oh, by the way this is a flip book (another gimmick) but anyway, DC why are you turning Supergirl into a Red Lantern? Hasn't Supergirl had enough of the dark and edgy angry world of the new 52? I guess not. What happened to the Supergirl who was inspired by Superman to become a hero? She's been transformed into a lonely angry young woman who's nothing close to being inspirational.

** From uninspiring teen heroes to inspiring, Marvel has announced a new series titled "Ms. Marvel" that will be out in February. It's about a teenage girl  named Kamala Khan who was so inspired by Captain Marvel (Carole Danvers) that she decided she wanted to be a superhero. This new series will be written by G. Willow Wilson. I'm really looking forward to reading this.

** Lastly, DC Comics has canceled The Green Team: Teen Trillionaires. The last issue will the #8 and will be out on January 29, 2014. I'm sad to see this series go, I really enjoyed reading it. This was a fun series.

Description:

Through thick and thin, the Green Team has endured more pain and suffering than any teen trillionaire can withstand. Will this final issue be their breaking point?
