Book: Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #1
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
In the premiere issue of this most anticipated series (well at least by me), it includes two stories, I found both stories to be really good despite that hint regarding that fauxmance in the second story.
1st story: "GOTHAMAZON" by Gail Simone with illustration by Ethan Van Sciver
With Batman a bit disposed and Gotham being overrun by villains, Oracle (Barbara Gordon) contacted Wonder Woman to see if she could put a stop to all the mayhem. Diana went into this with the Amazon mindset ready to tackle the villains but the problem was they don't fear her. She needed to figure out another way to approach the problem otherwise things would get even more out of control.
One solution was to think a little more like Batman to deal with these villains. But ultimately she's going to have to figure out a way to stop them in her own way.
Not only was this story good but it was great to see Oracle in this story as well as the classic Wonder Woman.
2nd story: "Defender of Truth" by Amanda Deibert with illustrations by Cat Staggs
In this story, Diana had to stop Circe from terrorizing the men of Washington, D.C. She also helped a boy from being teased because he's a fan of Wonder Woman. Boy aren't supposed to like female superheroes well that's what those other boys thought.
This story featured a New 52 Wonder Woman but it was good to see one of Diana's old enemies instead of just the New Gods which were the focus of the Brian Azzarello/Cliff Chiang series.
For the first issue it featured two really good well written action packed stories. As a Wonder Woman fan it definitely has me really looking forward to reading the next issue.
