Book: Clammed Up (A Main Clambake Mystery book #1) by Barbara Ross

Review:
This had so much potential but it was downright boring. But it didn't start that way which is why I said it had potential, because unlike some cozy mysteries where it takes a while for the mystery to begin this one started right at the beginning. But after that initial suspense the story started to drag on for quite a while. I kept waiting for the mystery solving to start and when it did it wasn't that interesting. And the ending felt like a cop out or something that was thought up at the last minute.
Clammed Up follows Julia Snowden a thirty something who came back to her hometown to try to help save her family's fledgling Clambake business but she was also trying to figure out who murdered Ray Wilson, who was the best man for the wedding that Julia was catering.
The murder had been shocking but it seems as Julia delved into the mystery there may be a possibility that the murder may have something to do with her family's business.
As interesting as I thought this was going to be there just wasn't enough mystery solving going on in this story as opposed to all the time wasted with Julia doing all of these boring and mundane things that slowed the story down. I get that the family business was in trouble but the author didn't have to constantly keep reminding the reader of that. I'm still trying to figure out if there was a reason why the author included so many scenes with Julia dealing with the bank manager about the business. I know it's a part of the story but it wasn't interesting.
As boring as this first book was I really don't see myself reading another book from this series.
This was a quick read but it wasn't worth it. I'm glad I checked this out from the library instead of buying it.
