Description:
The Door in the Mountain (Book 1 of a two-part series) is a place where children are marked by gods and goddesses; a place where a manipulative, bitter princess named Ariadne devises a mountain prison for her hated half-brother, where a boy named Icarus tries, and fails, to fly, and a slave girl changes the paths of all their lives forever.

Review:
It was very difficult to get into this story and the more I read the worse it got. I decided I just couldn't read any more of this. It was just so awful.
The Door in the Mountain was a sort of retelling of the Minotaur story but nothing felt thought out. The writing to me was really bad, it was overly simplistic and felt as if it was written for children. The story is written as if the reader is already familiar with the various Greek Myths that are included in this story.
In what should have been an interesting take on the Greek stories you are instead presented with this strange Percy Jackson like story with many of the characters having powers of the Gods since they are marked by them. From what I read, I found that none of the characters had any personality and they pretty much blended into one another.
There was nothing really to this story except for showing how mean and devious Ariadne was.
