What makes Lois Lane a great reporter? I think it's her passion in what she does and her desire to report on those who prey on others be it small time crooks or high profile politicians. She will stop at nothing including putting herself in harms way to see that the public is aware of the wrongs that are being committed.
Journalism doesn't strike me as a glamorous job and I figure anyone who goes into that profession has an inquisitive nature and questions everything. Also someone who is willing to work hard and understand the responsibility for what they write.
I think all of those things fit Lois perfectly, she sees the world around her and can't help wanting to make it a better place. If it takes writing about the problems to hopefully see that some kind of results happen then that is what she will do.
Lois has a strong journalistic integrity and it's hard to image her ever taking a bribe to kill a story but I also don't see her writing up something that could intentionally harm someone (i.e. telling the world that Clark Kent is Superman). That goes against everything that she stands for.
Being a good reporter is something Lois is great at but I also think her propensity to care is what makes her a great reporter.
