It's recently been reported that Scarlett Johansson has become the Highest Grossing Actress of All Time. That good news makes me wonder why Marvel has yet to announce a Black Widow movie. I think Scarlett Johansson has done a marvelous job as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow be it from her first appearance in Iron Man 2 to the current movie Captain America: Civil War.
By now it should be a no brainer to Marvel/Disney executives to green light a Black Widow movie. I don't know what the hold up could possibly be but a Black Widow movie is something many fans are eager to see.
My question is how can Marvel not have announced a Black Widow movie by now? The decision can't be hinged on Johansson's acting because she's fantastic. Hopefully, it's not based on some outdated notion that women can't carry an action movie because there are many examples to prove otherwise. If they are worried about whether it would be a success, why not sign the Russo brothers (Anthony and Joe) to direct a Widow movie and make sure they get a good writer because nothing can save a poorly written script. It also would be great if James "Bucky" Barnes a.k.a. Winter Soldier (played by Sebastian Stan) was included in it, because in the comics Natasha and Bucky have a very interesting story and relationship.
I do hope that in the near future, Black Widow will get her own movie. Scarlett Johansson (and not to be forgotten her stunt double) have sold every intense, jaw-dropping scene that the Widow has been in. Come on Marvel, isn't it's time to give Widow a movie.
