Description:

A detective with no memory, no identity, and no manners. A femme fatale seeking escape from a powerful crime lord. A voodoo queen with a penchant for mixtapes and hi-tops. A goat-eating TV... A surreal neon-noir fusing hardboiled pulp with an 80s VHS visual aesthetic, dripping with neon and static.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

See what happens when I try something new, I went and found a book I couldn't stop reading. Limbo is an extremely engaging story that follows Clay, a private investigator who has been dealing with a sever case of amnesia. For the past nine months, he's been trying to figure out who he is and how he ended up in the town of Dedande.

Clay found himself taking on a case that should have been somewhat simple enough, of taking down a crime boss. But with supernatural elements at play, he was a little out of his league. That's where his friend, landlady and savior Sandy comes in. She studies in the art of Voodoo but instead of the old ways of the art, Sandy uses music to help her work her magic.

But magic may not be enough for this case because there is so much more going on and Clay's fate lies at the center of the story.

This story couldn't have been more awesome, it's well written, creepy yet humorous with a dash of the 80s. It has a mystery that pulls you in the more it unravels. While the art is both stunning and over-the-top. I don't think this could have worked out so perfectly if the artwork and writing had not worked so well together.

I don't know if this is a miniseries or an ongoing series, I'm hoping it's the latter because this is a series I could read more of.
