Review:
This issue continues from the last with Sasha going into the backstage tunnels to find another crystal to replace the one he accidentally broke. Meanwhile, Hunter, Aziz, Jory and Beckett wait for the stage managers Jaime and Timothy to return from searching the tunnels which they do but with no luck in finding Sasha. But a missing backstager isn't the only problem, the McQueen twins are threatening to have the entire backstage crew replaced for not being ready for rehearsal.
With their jobs on the line, Jamie and Timothy instructed the guys to prepare for rehearsal. However, Jory, Hunter, Beckett and Aziz had other ideas, they were going to search for Sasha. The dangers of the tunnels were on all their minds but finding Sasha outweighed the risk. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that they could go missing like the entire crew from 1987 did. In the second issue, Jory and Hunter stumbled upon a clue about the disappearance but this fourth issue may have uncovered an additional clue. However, it a creepy scene near the end that you really need to see because it left me with even more questions.
The Backstagers is definitely one of my favorite comics and with each issue the reader learns more about the characters, the tunnels and the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the 1987 crew. It was interesting to see Aziz's reaction to Sasha being gone. He's usually really laid-back but he was so upset that his best friend was possibly lost that he showed it. It's that rare showing of emotion that really hits you.
It's also interesting seeing all the little friendlationship moments between Jory and Hunter, they're friends but you can tell there's something possibly more going on. There has been a flirting little vibe between them since the first issue and you can see things progressing a bit.
I really like this issue, the writing and illustrations continue to be great as the magical world of the backstage tunnels are finally starting to reveal some of its dangerous secrets. And not to mention Sasha was adorable as usual and Beckett truly was remorseful for how he treated Sasha in the last issue. I really can't wait to read the next issue.
