Throwback Thursday: Dark Angel

Although, Dark Angel which premiered October 3, 2000 on Fox only stayed on for two seasons, it was a show that really stood out to me. It centered around a bleak post-apocalyptic future and starred Jessica Alba as the genetically engineered superhuman Max Guevara (with the barcode at the back of her neck registering her as X5-452).

This dystopian series which was set in Seattle followed Max as she tried to balance working at a bike delivery service, hanging out with friends and try to survive day-to-day life. While also laying low avoiding being recaptured by Manticore, the governmental group that created her and several others who had escaped when they were children.

In between doing all of that, she also wound up helping (and falling for) Logan Cale (played by Michael Weatherly) a.k.a. Eyes Only, a cyber journalist and social justice warrior who exposes corruption. They both worked to provide help to those who desperately needed it.

Max Guevara was an unlikely hero because at first she was reluctant to get involve. In the world they were living in, everyone tended to look out for themselves but she couldn't stand by and not help. Especially since she was created as the ultimate soldier.

Dark Angel was an interesting and unique show that's still one of my favorite shows to watch.
