Even though I was never a fan of Chloe Sullivan, I thought the character was annoying, self-centered, self righteous and got away with doing a lot of awful things without ever having to apologize for it. I have no issues with rewatching the show because I never had a problem with Mack who played the character simple because I can disassociate or disconnect the actor from the role.
However, I was completely shocked when I heard the news that Mack was allegedly in a cult and was using her fame to recruit women and her power in the organization to exploit and torture them. In her public persona, she spoke of trying to empower women as well as through social media she posted a lot of motivational and inspirational quotes, articles, pictures and books. It was as if she was using her public life to offset the dreadful things she was doing in her private life as a cult member.
To the fans who feel they can no longer watch Smallville because of Mack, they shouldn't feel bad about their decision. Mack and her fictional character Chloe Sullivan both had a fairly large fan base and now many of those fans are disappointed. I think a lot of fans put celebrities on a pedestal and treat them as if they are gods and then when something bad happens they get disappointed. Celebrities are people too, they are no better or worse than anyone else and when they screw up, it shouldn't affect anyone but them.
To the women that were tricked, abused and tortured by this cult, Allison Mack will have her day in court to answer for her crimes. Hopefully, then the victims will receive justice.
