Toxic Fandom Strikes Again: Kelly Marie Tran Harassed by "Star Wars" Fans

It's being reported that actress Kelly Marie Tran (who played Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi) was being harassed for several months by so-called Star Wars fans to the point that she deleted all her posts in her Instagram account. Her account is still up but there is nothing being displayed except for her profile. I don't understand why these "fans" felt the need to harass her. So what, if you don't like her character Rose Tico why be a terrible person and harass her.

I always wondered what compels someone to go out of their way to post hateful responses to someone instead of just minding their own business. I know there has always been toxicity within fandom but the internet and social media has made it so easy for these individuals to go after people and things they don't like. It's okay if you don't like something but why force your hateful opinions onto others.

Unfortunately, this type of harassment is nothing new, do you remember when actress and comedian Leslie Jones received the same horrible treatment after she was cast in the Ghostbusters movie. I do and it was really bad but what I like is that she didn't let those trolls stop her and I hope Kelly Marie Tran won't let them get her down either. This is so infuriating because fandom shouldn't be this toxic, it should be fun and enjoyable for everyone.
