Why I Think Rose Tico is Inspiring

I never understood the negativity towards the character Rose Tico from some Star Wars fans after she appeared in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the sequel The Rise of Skywalker. To me Rose was the positive energy that was needed in the Resistance. She showed that despite the terrible situation they were in and not to mention the death of her sister Paige, she was still a very hopeful person.

There was just something so incredibly relatable and inspiring about Rose, that you can't help but like her. She is someone who most likely worked hard in the background in tech maintenance helping to keep the Resistance running smoothly and since she wasn't a general, Jedi or ace pilot she probably never would have gotten the chance to shine if not for a chance to go with Finn on a side mission. They were hoping what they were during would help in saving the Resistance and defeat the First Order. Although, their mission didn't turn out the way they hoped, it was still an opportunity for them to grown and learn.

Despite the divisiveness of The Last Jedi, Rose Tico was a breakout character and that was due to Kelly Marie Tran putting so much heart into the role. I'm still disappointed that Rose wasn't in more scenes in The Rise of Skywalker because she is a cool and inspiring character. She showed that you don't have to be "the hero" to be a hero.

Entertainment News: Kelly Marie Tran in a New Movie, Netflix book series Bookmarks and the LEGO Star Wars game trailer

If like myself you're a big fan of animated movies, actress Kelly Marie Tran will be voicing the main character Raya in the upcoming Disney animated movie Raya and the Last Dragon. The movie, which is tentatively scheduled to be released March 21, 2021, will also feature the actress and comedian Awkwafina who will be voicing the character Sisu.

Naomi Ackie and Kelly Marie Tran

After watching some of Naomi Ackie and Kelly Marie Trans interviews during the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker press tour, I couldn't help noticing their great energy and chemistry whenever they were interviewed together. I'm surprised they haven't been cast as leads in a movie or TV series together. I think it would be really cool if they had a Jannah and Rose Tico series for Disney+ but I doubt it will happen. Too bad especially since we'll most likely never get a Finn and Poe Dameron Disney+ series it would be great if Rose and Jannah got a chance to have their stories expanded on.

Fashion: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Cast at the London Premiere

The cast of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker continue to sparkle and shine at the London premiere. I am loving all the fashion, from John Boyega's Nigerian suit to Keri Russell's flowy dress, they all seem to make these outfits work.

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac

John and Daisy's blue and intricate outfits are not only impressive but they both complement each other and the blue carpet. It must be noted that Oscar's tweed suit gives off a very corporate banker/business vibe. Out of the cast, I feel like he's the least likeliest one to try something a bit more daring fashion wise on the red carpet.

Fashion: The Cast of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" at the Los Angeles Premiere

Last night, while I was watching the live stream of the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Los Angeles premiere, I couldn't help thinking how amazing the cast looked. From Daisy Ridley to Naomi Ackie, they all look simply stunning.

However, I was disappointed with many of the outfits some of the celebrity guests were wearing on the blue carpet. Can you imagine being invited to the premiere and then decide to show up wearing some overly casual outfit? I can't believe so many of them didn't make the effort to look as amazing as possible. Yes, I'm talking about you Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes along with a bunch of other people.

Anyway, here are some of the casts' amazing looks, let me know which one of is your favorite.

Video: Kelly Marie Tran's Good Morning America Interview

On Monday, actress Kelly Marie Tran was interviewed on Good Morning America about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and I missed it. However, it was posted online. I thought this was a pretty good interview because not only did she talk about Star Wars but also a little bit about how dealt with being harassed online. That was so horrible, no one should have to deal with online bullying. I still don't understand why they had gotten so mad over her character Rose Tico who was a cool addition to the Star Wars franchise.

Fandom is Supposed to be Fun not Toxic

Why is the world so toxic? And it's not like you can escape into fandom because even that's teeming with toxicity. Last month, some racist fans had targeted actress Anna Diop because she was cast as Starfire in the upcoming DC Comics Titans TV series. They harassed her to the point she finally disabled the comments to her Instagram account.

A similar harassment incident happened to actress Kelly Marie Tran who stars as Rose Tico in the Star Wars movie. She recently wrote an essay for the New York Times describing how that harassment made her feel and that she is no longer going let herself feel like she doesn't belong.

It's horrible how much hatred and entitlement these so-called fans have and how they don't care that they are harassing someone. Many of these "fans" seem to think that diversity is ruining their fandom and want to "push back" by spreading their hatred in their way to "fix" things.

What they don't seem to understand is that they don't own fandom and their hatred is not going do anything except make themselves miserable. Which is why they try to pass it on to others but fans, actors, artists, writers, creators, etc. are not putting up with their negativity and toxicity. We are standing up against it including doing the one thing that angers these fans the most, we are enjoying fandom and making it fun for others to be a part of.

I don't want anyone to think they can't criticize something because there is nothing wrong with giving your opinion. However, my issue is when the criticism is steeped in racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, etc. because then it's not about sharing your opinion but promoting hatred.

I feel like fandom should be a fun source of entertainment and not this unfortunate toxic environment that cause some fans to feel like they don't belong. Which is absurd because fandom is for everyone.

Toxic Fandom Strikes Again: Kelly Marie Tran Harassed by "Star Wars" Fans

It's being reported that actress Kelly Marie Tran (who played Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi) was being harassed for several months by so-called Star Wars fans to the point that she deleted all her posts in her Instagram account. Her account is still up but there is nothing being displayed except for her profile. I don't understand why these "fans" felt the need to harass her. So what, if you don't like her character Rose Tico why be a terrible person and harass her.

I always wondered what compels someone to go out of their way to post hateful responses to someone instead of just minding their own business. I know there has always been toxicity within fandom but the internet and social media has made it so easy for these individuals to go after people and things they don't like. It's okay if you don't like something but why force your hateful opinions onto others.

Unfortunately, this type of harassment is nothing new, do you remember when actress and comedian Leslie Jones received the same horrible treatment after she was cast in the Ghostbusters movie. I do and it was really bad but what I like is that she didn't let those trolls stop her and I hope Kelly Marie Tran won't let them get her down either. This is so infuriating because fandom shouldn't be this toxic, it should be fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Kelly Marie Tran at the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Premiere

Kelly Marie Tran's character Rose Tico from The Last Jedi is a great addition to the Star Wars universe. I hope her character will be expanded on in the next movie.

I love this red strapless Thai Nguyen Atelier dress she wore to The Last Jedi Los Angeles premiere earlier this month. Not only is it beautiful but she totally stood out. I posted a third picture below of her and the cast and I couldn't help noticing how much she stands out. While the others mostly wore dark or muted colors, her vibrant red dress immediately catches the eye making her the center of attention.

I don't even need to talk about her hair and make-up because they're perfect. Tran's style team did a fantastic job with this look.
