Comic Book Wednesday: August 8th Picks

One good thing that resulted from the Batman/Catwoman wedding fiasco and that's Catwoman having her own series again. I always found Catwoman interesting especially when writers show that when she's not stealing things shouldn't be she's trying to help the people that are most often over looked in her part of town. I've said before that Catwoman is not necessarily a hero but she's most definitely not a villain.

There is also new series starting today but it's not on my list (I'm going to pick it up in the trade edition), it's the Fantastic Four. It's been some time since they had a series and I'm sure fans are going to be grabbing that one up.

Other than that, here's my list:

DC Comics

Book: Catwoman #2

Description:

Gotham’s a toxic litter box for Selina Kyle of late, so she hits the road looking to clear the air, change her look and clear her name, too—there’s a copycat burglar swiping her M.O. who needs sorting out. In her hometown, Catwoman runs afoul of a crime boss who’s also hunting this impostor. Can the two declare a truce to hunt a mutual enemy, or will Selina end up just more roadkill?

Detective Comics #986

Book: Detective Comics #986

Description:

Black Lightning, the Signal and Cassandra Cain are working very well together...but now they're up against a foe who can tap directly into their worst emotions and play them like music! When you've seen the kinds of horrors these poor souls have, there's plenty of trauma to work with...and with that, you can turn these heroes into deadly weapons! Meanwhile Batman's 'side project' has been revealed-what are the Brainiac Files, and what, exactly, does Batman plan to do with them?

Scooby Apocalypse #28

Book: Scooby Apocalypse #28

Description:

Cliffy is torn between his loyalty to the recently returned Scrappy-Doo and his friendship with Scooby. Meanwhile, Daphne and Scrappy bond during a gruesome monster hunt. And who is the mysterious new creature lurking in the dark?

Wonder Woman #52

Book: Wonder Woman #52

Description:

At the behest of Aztek, Diana and Artemis join her for a trip to Mexico, but there's no sightseeing on the agenda. Instead, they must rescue a long-lost Amazon who's being held captive by rogue deity Tezcatlipoca, who's trying to break into our world. Can our three heroes save the missing Amazon, stop a raging god and not kill one another in the process?

Dynamite Entertainment

Xena #7 (of 5) (Cover A - Davila)

Book: Xena: Warrior Princess #7

Description:

What could Nazar have done to set the Oracles out to kill her? Maybe she really DID kill her sister. But Xena and Gabrielle can't fight the assassins AND keep Nazar safe, so the Warrior Princess calls in a favor...with the Amazons!

Marvel Comics

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #35

Book: The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #35

Description:

Squirrel Girl may have avoided going to jail, but now Kraven's a fugitive on the run! It's been a difficult day!

Can Squirrel Girl stop Kraven and Spider-Man from fighting before it's too late?

Can a squirrel named 'Haskell' be a major part of a super hero epic?

Can Brain Drain use some well-applied existentialist philosophy to save the day?

The answer to all these questions is, 'I dunno, MAYBE?' And you'll have to read the comic to find out anything more specific!

UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #35 is your one-stop shop for a) friendship, b) punching and c) SPIDER-MAN, HE'S BEEN IN LOTS OF MOVIES, EVERYONE LOVES HIM.
