Characters Reading: Shelly Williams (Eve)

Sometimes break-ups can be a little tough and in the Eve episode "Self Helpless" Shelly Williams read the self-help book "Cleaning House: A Single Woman's Guide to Soul Cleansing" by Margery Kinsey Stanton as a way to get over her recent break-up with her ex-boyfriend J.T. Hunter.

Following the author's advice of appreciating oneself and embracing spending time alone, Shelly planned a romantic evening for herself at a fancy restaurant. Her experience was interesting because although she didn't have a problem being by herself it seemed to cause others to see dining alone as something unusual. When she arrived at the restaurant, the MaƮtre D' asked if she wanted to wait until the rest of her party arrived until she told him she was dining alone. Even her waiter suggested she dine at the bar so as not to look like she was alone. As an outgoing person Shelly was a little bored dining alone but as she told her good friends and business partners Janie Egins and Rita Lefleur (who joined her for dessert), the evening turned out to be a good learning experience.

On a side note, I love when TV shows and movies feature fictional or made up reading material: books, newspapers, magazines, etc for the characters to read.
