This book is a collection of popular wizarding fairy tales and features nearly 30 stories (according to J.K. Rowling) such as: "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot", "The Fountain of Fair Fortune", "The Warlock's Hairy Heart", "Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump" and "The Tale of the Three Brothers".
This book ended up being very useful for Hermione, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter while the trio were trying to locate Voldemort's Horcruxes. Which is probably why Dumbledore left it to the one member of the group who would appreciate it as well as seek out additional information for what was found within the pages.
For anyone not familiar with the Harry Potter series (yes, there are still some out there), J.K. Rowling published The Tales of Beedle the Bard which contained the five stories mentioned above. So if you're interested you can give this book a read (along with the Harry Potter book series if you haven't).
