Christmas Countdown Day #10 : Harry's Christmas at Hogwarts (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone)

Harry Potter's first Christmas at Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone must have felt very special for him. I'm sure he was happy that he didn't have to go back to his terrible Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Dursley's home to celebrate the holiday. It's been a while since I read the book but I believe his aunt and uncle sent him really crappy gifts which was basically junk. At least in the movie that wasn't shown. Instead Harry got gifts from his best friend Ron Weasley's mom, Molly. As well as a very timely mysterious gift that once belonged to his father. Harry's first Hogwarts Christmas turned out to be a really good one.

Art of the Day: Hermione Granger and Crookshanks

Artwork: Hermione Granger by Sheep Skeleton (sheepskeleton)

This is exactly how I want to spend today. Curled up with a warm blanket, relaxing and reading my book, Mera: Tide Breaker by Danielle Paige and Stephen Byrne (which is really good). Hermione is an inspiration this bookworm.

Characters Reading: Hermione Granger

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, Hermione Granger was willed the book The Tales of Beedle the Bard by Beedle the Bard from the late headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Albus Dumbledore. Since Hermione was muggle born, this was a book the overachieving studious bookworm had never heard of nor read.

This book is a collection of popular wizarding fairy tales and features nearly 30 stories (according to J.K. Rowling) such as: "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot", "The Fountain of Fair Fortune", "The Warlock's Hairy Heart", "Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump" and "The Tale of the Three Brothers".

This book ended up being very useful for Hermione, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter while the trio were trying to locate Voldemort's Horcruxes. Which is probably why Dumbledore left it to the one member of the group who would appreciate it as well as seek out additional information for what was found within the pages.

For anyone not familiar with the Harry Potter series (yes, there are still some out there), J.K. Rowling published The Tales of Beedle the Bard which contained the five stories mentioned above. So if you're interested you can give this book a read (along with the Harry Potter book series if you haven't).

Art of the Day: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley

Artwork: The Golden Trio by nucleicacid

There are so many things I love about the Harry Potter series (books and movies) and the friendship between Harry, Hermione and Ron is one of the best things about this series. Despite all the things they went through, their friendship remained strong.

Art of the Day: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley

I'm in a Harry Potter sort of mood, meaning I either want to watch one of the movies or if I have time (which I don't) to re-read one of the books. For now, here is a wonderful piece of artwork.

Fashion Meets Comics: Hermione Granger Quote Tote Bag

I'm the Queen of Tote Bags well at least that's what I call myself because I have so many of them. I like using them to carry all my stuff in especially since I use mostly small purses. I haven't bought a tote in a while but I do like this Hermione Granger quote tote, even if it's a misquote. Ron Weasley is the one who said it but it was about her. The quote "Because that’s what Hermione does," said Ron, shrugging. "When in doubt, go to the library." is in the second book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

I do like this tote because Hermione knew the importance of the library. She could always be found in there either studying, finding a book to read for fun, researching and looking for a particular book that could help them.

Although, it might not have been Hermione who said this, I still want to get it. I think this would make a great bookish tote.

When In Doubt Go to the Library tote bag                            $18.00                 Out of Print (outofprintclothing.com)
