Nesting: Alexis and David Rose's Motel Beds (Schitt's Creek)

On the Schitt's Creek TV series, I love Alexis Rose's girly bohemian glam style which is why I was surprised that she didn't do anything to redecorate her bed at the motel. She always managed to stay as chic as possible, despite her family losing all of their money, their home and nearly everything else (it was all seized by the government) with the family moving to the small town Schitt's Creek (which they own) to live in an outdated motel. Throughout all of that, she never lost her sense of style.

I guess at that point home decor didn't matter to Alexis as long as she still had some of her cute clothes and accessories. She reminds me of Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw who spent more time and money curating an amazing collection of clothes and accessories than she did in decorating her apartment. That's the same energy I get from Alexis who put absolutely none of her style into transforming her motel bed into something that represents her. There are no cute, colorful and sophisticated bedding or accents pillows just a bland bed.

Meanwhile, Alexis' older brother David certainly took the time to redecorate. Although it wasn't until the second season that he was finally able to do it. After getting a job at the Blouse Barn, he used the company credit card to sort of indulge himself by buying a few nice things such as luxury skin care products and new bedding. Let's just say, he completely misunderstood what it meant to write off purchases made from a company credit card.

I found David's fashion style to be trendy and edgy but in the color combination of black, white and gray, it gives his clothes a timeless feel. I like that he carried his style over to his new bedding. This is a timeless look that he kept simple by sticking to one pattern and completing the look with a black throw. Everything about this bedding is chic and sophisticated and it totally elevated the old and outdated furniture in the motel room. I noticed that on his side of the nightstand or bedside table, he has a couple of books and Alexis has a few magazines on hers.

I like that David made-over his twin size motel bed and gave it a luxury hotel feel just by changing the bedding. The good thing about choosing black and white bedding is that it's such a popular and classic look that you can find different styles and patterns for an affordable price.
