Trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife

I still think it's disappointing that so many Ghostbusters fans didn't give the 2016 movie a chance before hating on it and the actors in the film. It was like an overwhelming amount of hate directed at that movie for no reason and still is. I can understand critiquing a film but they weren't doing that, they were purposely going after the movie and many without having never seen it. I thought it was a great movie that did a good job of honoring the original Ghostbusters movies while at the same time presenting something new.

I found the reaction by fans for this upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie to be starkly different. I noticed there is no hysterical anger and it's not hard to figure out why? I found it disappointing that when this movie was announced, the director and writer of the film Jason Reitman stated that this movie will "hand it back to the fans" as if the 2016 movie wasn't for Ghostbusters fans. This movie feels like something put out to soothed the fans who were mad about the 2016 movie.

After watching this trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, it feels more like it's a continuation of Netflix's Stranger Things TV series instead of feeling like Ghostbusters. Despite, the terrible behavior of fans and the director's statement, I am interested in seeing the movie. Hopefully, it will be good and not nostalgia bait created to appease angry fans.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to be in theaters July 10, 2020.
