Fashion Meets Fandom: 3 Marion Ravenwood Outfits (Raiders of the Lost Ark)

It's been a while since I've watched any of the Indiana Jones movies and I might have to do a rewatch soon. The franchise features one of my favorite characters, Marion Ravenwood. She is such a cool character, I love that Marion's brash, bold, smart, strong-willed, confident and impulsive. She's unapologetic about who she is along with not letting society or anyone else define who she is as well. I could write an entire post and more about Ms. Ravenwood but I'll save that for another day. This post is about her effortless chic style and three outfits I created inspired by her.

One of my favorite looks of hers was this white and red embroidered peasant top that was paired with red pants that she wore on the streets of Cairo, Egypt in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Her style in the movie is surprisingly girlie with tomboyish elements such as loose, relaxed pants which she wore a couple of times. She also wore several skirts such as the cute and unassuming white top and skirt set in Cairo or the polished and sophisticated skirt suit worn in Washington, D.C. She also wore two very pretty and elegant white dresses which unfortunately the first was dress was "gifted" to her by Indiana Jones' evil rival Dr. René Belloq. The second dress she got from the pirates, however, what I love is that no matter what Marion wore, whether it's a casual blouse and loose fitted pants or an elegant dress, it's her fiery spirit and attitude that is most remembered.

Now the focus of this Fashion Meets Fandom post is this outfit, well more specifically the embroidered peasant top. I absolutely love this look, it's bright and colorful while being both stylish and laid back. It inspired me to create three Marion inspired outfits.

The first two outfits are an inspirational take on her peasant top and pants look above and the third outfit is dress that has a reimagined feel of the top. This is a fun and easy look to pull off, it's ladylike but still playful because of the colorful print and vintage feel. A quick style tip, sometimes peasant tops can be a little sheer, so I would recommend wearing a tank top or cami underneath it.
