Fashion Meets Fandom: Han Solo's Camouflage Coat in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

I always found it interesting that in the original Star Wars trilogy, the characters didn't have a lot of wardrobe changes. Take for instance, Han Solo who mainly wore a similar look of a white shirt, vest and pants throughout the first three movies along with the occasional jacket (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens) for a slight change.

There is one item that really stood out in his wardrobe and that was the camouflage trench coat he wore in Return of the Jedi. I always wondered why he wore that for the mission to Endor? Although the trench coat seemed out of place in the forest, it was perfectly in character for the overly confident general and former smuggler. It just seemed like something he would wear and I really couldn't see him choosing to wear a poncho like Princess Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker wore when the trio and some of the rebels were on Endor. Despite his scruffy and disheveled appearance, he has this swagger and bravado about him that lets you know that he cares about how he looks and would not want to wear a poncho because he thinks it's not cool.

I do wonder if the camo coat was something he already owned and was waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it or something that was supplied by the Rebel Alliance. Fashion wise, I guess Han stuck with what worked for him since his style never changed much throughout five movies with the exception of this camouflage coat.
