Review:

This second volume of Kevin Keller includes four really good and interesting stories.

In the first story, Kevin Keller and his friends got a chance to meet legendary actor and activist George Takei. And it was all thanks to Kevin's report, in his class each student was to write about the person that inspired them. His report was on George Takei and it was so good that his friend Betty Cooper wanted to publish it in the school's online newspaper. From there his report some how caught the attention of Mr. Takei and his husband Brad who were so touched by the heartfelt report that they planned a surprise for Kevin and Riverdale High School.

Unaware, Kevin, Jughead, Dilton, Veronica and Ethel were planning to go to a local comic con in order to meet Mr. Takei. Things didn't work out the way they wanted but the gang did have fun and Kevin even got a second date out of it.

The second story had Kevin realizing he needed his own car after he borrowed his mother's car which came with an immediate downside that cut into his time hanging out with Veronica. His parents thought so as well which led to his dad giving Kevin his old and barely held together jeep. Well, that wouldn't be a problem for much longer after his friends Moose and Dilton offered to work on it in shop class. Restoring the jeep wasn't a problem, however, it was the monster truck tires (Moose's idea) and Dilton's high-tech upgrades that were the issue. Kevin was supposed to leave the car at school to switch the tires and get instructions from Dilton about the upgrades, however an impromptu date changed his mind. And he would soon realize he made a big mistake.

In the third story which has a more serious feel, Kevin was being secretive about who he was dating. And that was because the guy he was seeing goes to their high school but he also wasn't out and wanted to keep their relationship as secret as possible. An accidental outing might put an end to this new relationship before it had a chance to grow.

The final story which continues a bit from last one has Kevin starring in Veronica's poorly written play. While Kevin was dealing with the play, someone very close to him was jealous and doesn't seem to be handling it very well.

What I like about these stories is that they are funny but some have quite of bit of meaning and depth to them. They also show Kevin being a typical teen enjoying his life but also dealing with the good and bad experiences of dating. Kevin has this image of being perfect but as he mentioned in one of the stories, he's not perfect and he has flaws just like everyone else. I also like that Kevin may be really nice and kind but he stands up for himself and doesn't let anyone treat him bad. These were really good stories and I can't wait to read the last seven issue in this series.
