Happy Friday, what fandom thoughts are on your mind?
- I remember when I first started watching Prodigal Son, I immediately thought the show would have fit perfectly within the Gotham TV series universe. They both have this dark and twisted elements along with this crazy type of energy and not to mention the characters. It's still disappointing that Prodigal Son was cancelled after two seasons but I'm happy that the show was created because it's one of my favorite shows (and Gotham as well).
- I love watching new shows or ones I've never seen before. Of course, I love rewatching some of my favorite shows but I've already seen them and know what's going to happen. Unlike with new shows or ones that are new to me, it gives me something different to watch. Some new or new to me shows I've been watching are Fantasy Island (2021 reboot), The Equalizer (2021 reboot), Superman & Lois, Close Enough, White Lotus, The Upshaws, Grimm and a few more.
- I was thinking about the Gilmore Girls 6th season 13th and 14th episodes Friday Night's Alright for Fighting and You've Been Gilmored. In these episodes Paris Geller was doing such a bad job as Editor of the Yale Daily News student newspaper that she was voted out by the student writers and staff. They also voted to replace her with Rory as Editor who had worked really hard trying to get the latest edition of the paper published in time. Paris mad at the newspaper staffs' decision, kicked Rory out of the apartment and had all of Rory's stuff sitting in the hallway. This left Rory with no where to live which resulted in her moving in with her boyfriend Logan Huntzberger.
I can understand Paris was mad about being replaced but she was doing an awful job as Editor. However, she took it out on Rory because she believed Rory had betrayed her to get the job. The staff as a whole made the decision to get rid of Paris who truly should have been let go of her position. It probably would have been better for Paris if she had resigned instead but then that wouldn't be Paris. Rory wasn't vying for Editor, the staff saw how hard she was working to get the paper out on time and as unofficial leader she was motivating them as well. Unlike Paris who really wasn't doing a good job at all. I like Paris as a character, she's smart, tough, ambitious and speaks her mind. However there are times throughout the show where she was a bad friend to Rory which unfortunately overshadows all the times when she was a good friend.

- I never understood why Jaleesa Vinson's personality was changed during A Different World's fifth season. In the first through fourth seasons, Jaleesa was a divorced non-traditional Business student in her late twenties who was a smart, practical and capable character. However, by the fifth season when she married Colonel Bradford Taylor, the writers dumbed her down and had her being shown really out of character. From having her freak out during a hurricane to making her a terrible cook, it's as the writers wanted someone to be comedic relief and instead of creating a new character they decided to change Jaleesa instead.
When I think about the hurricane episode (season 5 episode 5 In the Eye of the Storm), it's hard to picture Jeleesa freaking out, being unprepared and getting drunk. Especially when I remember how in the first and third seasons, Jaleesa had been the Dorm Monitor and Assistant Dorm Director respectively of Gilbert Hall. So, I'm sure she's had experience being prepared for hurricanes but the writers seemed to have forgotten that when they wrote the episode.

- I can't be the only one who thinks that the actors Megan West and Oliver Stark who play Taylor Kelly and Evan "Buck" Buckley on 9-1-1 look so much a like that I'm surprised they weren't cast as siblings instead of love interests. Although, I'm happy that Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Buck's sister Maddie (she does an absolutely fantastic job in that role), it's just the similarity between Taylor and Buck is something I've noticed whenever they are on screen together.
