Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #9

Happy Friday evening, what fandom thoughts are on your mind?

- I was thinking about why do so many directors think movies being shown on the big screen is the only way to watch a movie for the first time. I still love going to the movie theatre but ever since the pandemic I have been enjoying watching new movies at home. I think the screen size shouldn't factor into whether a movie is good or not, the story and the acting should do that. Going forward I really think the option to watch new movies at home should continue because I realized that for the most part I prefer watching new release at home instead of going to the theatre.

- FOX released two teaser trailers for the upcoming fifth season of 9-1-1 and it seems like it's going to be complete chaos. And with Athena Grant and the 118 firefighters in the middle of everything trying to do what they can to help. And I can't wait to see it. With the system being hacked, I wonder if Eddie Diaz's issue with tech especially Hildy powered tech (see season 4 episode 3 Future Tense) will be brought up at some point.

- With the release of the Netflix movie He's All That (a remake of the 90's movie She's All That), I can't help feeling like we are living in such an unimaginative time in entertainment. With so many reboots, remakes, non-stop sequels and not to mention Disney keeps making live action versions of their animated movies, I wish more original stories were being made into shows and movies. I'm not saying that reboots, remakes, etc. are bad, it just feels like there are so many and I'm sure with even more in the works, that original stories seem to not get promoted as much. And when something new is created the shows tend to ends up getting cancelled while the movies rarely get a lot of viewers. I just hope this reboot craze doesn't last too long because there are so many new and different stories that can continued to be told.
