Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #11

Happy Friday evening, what fandom thoughts are on your mind?

- So far, I'm really enjoying the fifth season of 9-1-1. The last three episodes have been really good from the blackout to Athena and Michael Grant's son Harry being kidnapped (that was so suspenseful) and not to mention Maddie Buckley leaving her boyfriend Howard "Chim" Han and their daughter Jee-Yun. Maddie is still dealing with Postpartum Depression and she doesn't feel their daughter would be safe with her. I feel so sad for all three of them because Chim and Maddie love each other and their daughter so much. But what Maddie is going through is making life so hard for her that she believes the best thing is for her to leave. I hope she will get the help she needs and will find her way back to her family. Now back to Harry, I hope the show will focus on how he's dealing after being kidnapped because as much as I love 9-1-1 this show doesn't always follow up on stuff.

But so far this season it has, for instance the follow up of the relationship between Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Dr. Ana Flores. I think the show did a good job showcasing the end of Eddie and Ana's relationship. During the fourth season, I thought their relationship started out a little awkward (with their date at the end of the episode Jinx) followed by a temporary bit of passion (in the episode Breaking Point) only for the relationship to go back to being awkward and lacking chemistry by the end of the season. The break up seemed inevitable but I wasn't expecting it to end so soon.

I guess the writers didn't want to drag their relationship out any longer especially since it wasn't working. When I look back at the fourth season, I think the writers had made a point of showing how off their relationship was and at the time I wasn't sure if it was the actors' lack of chemistry but now I realize it was how it was written. Because despite Eddie finding Ana attractive the first time they met in the third season episode Fools, they didn't date until the fourth season. Their relationship never seemed to deepen and it ended up fizzling out. I think Eddie was trying to make things work between them because Ana was so nice and sweet and his son Christopher absolutely loved her, unfortunately Eddie didn't. Which doesn't make for a good relationship but it does make for good drama hence Eddie's panic attacks.

I really think these first three episodes were the perfect opener to the fifth season and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season will go.

- Every time I see the trailer for the upcoming Marvel movie, Eternals, I think it seems boring. It feels like a movie I'll wait until it's released on DVD to see it. I don't know, maybe the movie is better than what's shown in the trailer but it just looks like something I've already see before.

- Back in the early and mid-2000s, I used to watch a lot of Disney shows and some of favorites were: A.N.T. Farm, Good Luck Charlie, K.C. Undercover, Kim Possible, Jessie, Kickin' It, Lab Rats, Liv and Maddie, Mighty Meds, That's So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, The Suite Life on Deck and Wizards of Waverly Place. This makes me want to rewatch some of the shows again especially since I haven't seen some of them in quite a while.
