Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #22: Carlos Reyes, Henry Danger Movie, Eddie Diaz

Happy Friday!

This has felt like a really long week. I'm really happy it's Friday. And with that said, here are some of my fandom thoughts. What are some of yours?

- When I remember this scene from the 9-1-1: Lone Star third season 8th episode In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency, all I can think about is Carlos Reyes standing in the airport blaming himself for putting his boyfriend TK Strand and TK's father Owen on that flight. The plane malfunctioned and the pilot had to make an emergency landing. And all that time, I'm sure running through his mind was him thinking he was never going to see TK again. Because what can you do in a situation like that except worry. Which is why it was so wonderful seeing him being so relieved when the plane landed safely.

- I hope the upcoming Henry Danger movie which will premiere on Paramount+ will include Riele Downs and Sean Ryan Fox reprising their roles as Charlotte Page and Jasper Dunlop. As much as I enjoy watch the Henry Danger spinoff Danger Force it always seemed weird that Henry Hart has made several appearances but not Charlotte and Jasper. Which is why I'm hoping they will be in the movie because together they are one of my favorite trios.

- According to the newly release synopsis for the 9-1-1 fifth season 13th episode Fear-o-Phobia that's airing on Monday, "Eddie starts to fear his own mental health issues are worsening". With how terrible Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz was already looking in the 11th episode Outside Looking In, I can't image how worse he's going to look in Fear-o-Phobia. At one point in the 11th episode, he was starting to look like one of the walking dead. And if his mental health is getting worse especially since he's supposed to be breaking down at some point in the 13th episode, he's probably going to look absolutely awful. The makeup artists definitely deserve credit for making him look like the walking dead.

I would love to interview Ryan Guzman, because I need to know how he prepared for this storyline for this second half of the fifth season. What did he do to prepare himself to better represent the deterioration of Eddie's mental health. I know he did a good job with his performance as the mentally unstable and murderous Noah Sandborn in the movie The Boy Next Door but that's an entirely different set of mental health issues that Noah was exhibiting throughout the movie compared to Eddie's situation. I really hope the writers on 9-1-1 do a good job dealing with Eddie's issues over the remainder of the season.

- To continue with the 9-1-1 episode Outside Looking In, there's a scene at the firehouse where Evan "Buck" Buckley was talking to Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash and Henrietta "Hen" Wilson. He was telling them that he had dinner with Eddie last night. Out of context, it makes Buck's words seem as if he had been on a date with Eddie. The writers could have easily included Buck mentioning that his girlfriend Taylor Kelly and Eddie's son Christopher were also there at Eddie's house for dinner. But no, they didn't. This is what fans of the show are always pointing out how they write for Buck and Eddie.

The showrunners and writers continue to write Buck and Eddie as a romantic couple and then act "shocked", defensive and dismissive when viewers and fans feel mocked and disappointed when they continue to say that Buck and Eddie are just "very good friends". Not to mention during the dinner scene, the framing most of the time made Taylor seem like a fourth wheel while Eddie, Christopher and Buck feeling like a family.
