Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #25

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's already Friday, how has your week been? Mine has been pretty good. With that said, I want to know what fandom thoughts are on your mind?

- I know it's an unpopular opinion in the 9-1-1 fandom but I would like to see Margaret and Philip Buckley return for the sixth season. I know a lot of the fandom doesn't like them but I feel these were people who never dealt with the grief of the death of their son Daniel and ended up shutting down and closing themselves off from their remaining children, Maddie and Evan "Buck". In the fourth season episode Jinx, Buck had mentioned that him and his parents were attending a few therapy sessions, which I figure were virtual. I think it would be nice to see how the therapy sessions went and if they helped the Buckley parents to understand their grief and how it resulted in how they raised Maddie and Buck. It would also be nice to see them acknowledging that they were distant and that they want to get to know as well as love their adult children especially since over the years they weren't really there for them.

- Something I really like is that 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star don't have a lot of crossovers. One of the reasons, I started to lose interest in Station 19 was due to too many crossover with Grey's Anatomny. A spin-off show should be able to stand on its own without having to shove so many crossovers between shows. It's easier narrative wise for Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy to have crossovers since both shows are set in the same city. However, for 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star, it wouldn't make any since if the showrunners starting trying to include more crossovers since neither show is set in the same state. Anyway, I would love for both 9-1-1 shows to remain the way they currently are with limited crossovers. I love both shows but just don't want too many crossovers.

- Happy Belated Anniversaries to the TV series: Girlfriends (22nd) and The Vampire Diaries (13th). Girlfriends premiered September 11, 2000 on UPN and ran for eight seasons, the last two seasons (7-8) aired on The CW. The show followed the lives of four friends (Joan Clayton, Antoinette "Toni" Childs, Lynn Searcy and Maya Wilkes) living in Los Angeles.

The Vampire Diaries premiered September 10, 2009 on The CW and also ran for eight seasons. The show which is based on the book series of the same title written by author L. J. Smith, centers around the small town Mystic Falls, Virginia and all the supernatural stuff (vampires, werewolves, witches, etc.) that happens there.

I find it interesting that both shows lead to spin-off shows from Girlfriend came The Game and from The Vampire Diaries came The Originals and Legacies. It might be little late but Happy Anniversaries to both shows. Two more notable show anniversaries: Firefly's 20th Anniversay (September 20, 2002) and Supernatural's 17th Anniversary (September 13, 2005).

- I really enjoy watching Superman & Lois but I feel like Lana Lang and her family take up too much screen time. I want to see more Lois Lane and Clark Kent not constantly seeing Lana and her family and their uninteresting and unnecessary drama. Even though it probably won't happen but I would love for Lana and her family to get as little screen time as possible in the upcoming third season.

- To this day, I will never understand how there was no spinoffs from Smallville when the show had Green Arrow, Supergirl, Kid Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, Black Canary, Justice Society of America, Star Girl, Metallo, Brainiac, etc. It really felt like a missed opportunity that nothing was ever greenlit.
