Entertainment News #26: Cancelled Shows

Happy Saturday! Well, it's probably not so happy for those connected to these shows:

- It's disappointing to hear that the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy has been cancelled after one season by Paramount Plus. I really liked this show, it had a similar vibe to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. I find the cancellation really disappointing because the show was already renewed for a second season. So far, the only reason for the show being cancelled is that Paramount Plus is merging with Showtime and the streaming service has decided not to continue with the show.

To make matters worse, the show will be removed from the streaming service on Tuesday (June 27th). However, there is some slightly good news, the company that created Star Trek: Prodigy announced that the second season is in post-production. And they will try to find a new channel or streaming service for it. Star Trek: Prodigy isn't the only show that's cancelled and removed by Paramount Plus: Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe and The Game can also be added to the ever growing cancelled shows list.

- NBC has cancelled the rebooted Magnum P.I. after five seasons. The show will officially end after the last 10 episodes air for the upcoming second half of the fifth season. Magnum P.I. was already saved once when NBC picked it up after the show had gotten cancelled by CBS after the fourth season.

Although, I never watched Magnum P.I., I knew the show had a pretty good following which is probably why NBC picked it up. But maybe after moving to a different network, the viewers didn't follow, who knows?
