From interviews with the actors that portray the characters to the Showrunner, the entertainment journalists are making a point to emphasis the unique bond and connection that Buck and Eddie have. As well as the possibility of romance such as in the US Weekly article where the writer stated that that "Their [Buck and Eddie's] mutual inability to find long-lasting romance has also contributed to speculation that they are destined for more than just friendship." Buck and Eddie are a very popular non-canon ship that fans have been hoping would get the chance to go canon. Maybe all of this good press is sign that things may be changing behind the scene and maybe the Showrunner and writers will actually follow through with it.
I really feel like all these articles are making me think they are being used to try to warm up the general viewing audience to the possibility of Buck and Eddie being together in a relationship. Otherwise, why have they been releasing so many articles about Buck and Eddie if they don't plan on eventually making them canon? I hate to think they are simply baiting the fans yet again and this time on an ever bigger scale. That would be extremely disappointing.
Reading through the articles truly feels like a soft relaunching for Buddie to the general audience to get them up caught on their shared history and possible point out things that new or old fans may have overlooked. This really does feel like Buck and Eddie may get a chance to go canon possibly in the seventh season. I certainly hope so. I will keep you posted if there is any more interesting news being released.
