Video: Buck and Eddie: You Are in Love (fan edit)

I posted this fan edit by Fedz before on my other blog Truly Outrageous Buck and Eddie but I thought I would post it on here. This video is just so beautiful, I just love the artwork. And not to mention the wonderful story it was telling. It continues to be disappointing that the 9-1-1 Showrunner and writers can't see how amazing it would be to put Eddie and Buck together. It makes me think of how The Rookie Showrunner wasn't planning on putting Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford together but the non-canon ship was so popular they finally listened to the fans and put them togehter. I wish that would happen with 9-1-1 but I highly doubt that will ever happen since it feels like the Showrunner hates the fans.

Video: Buck and Eddie and Chimney and Maddie: The Man Who Can't Be Moved (9-1-1 fan edit)

This is a really good fan edit by eli for Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley and Maddie and Howard "Chimney" Han, it really highlights how both Chimney and Eddie fought for their respective Buckley sibling. Although, Buck and Eddie are not a canon couple they very much parallel Chimney and Maddie, a canon married couple. And not to mention both Maddie and her younger brother Buck had been abducted (in two separate storylines) and it's really interesting that both Chimney and Eddie were the ones who found them.

Side note, Maddie was actually abducted twice and during that first one, Buck helped Police Sergeant Athena Grant find her. I'm sure if Chimney hadn't been severely injured, he would have been with them helping to find her. But this was also the early stages of Maddie and Chimney getting together. Anyway, back to the later abductions, giving all the stress that Chimney and Eddie went through trying to find Maddie and Buck (and not to mention Eddie was dealing with multiple injuries) these two never gave up. I also found it interesting that Maddie and Buck knowing that Chimney and Eddie's lives were in danger from their abductors, they did what had to in order to get to them in hopes of saving them. And funny enough, all four of them went through a lot to save each other.

It's very interesting the love stories the 9-1-1 writers are crafting (or pretending not to craft in Eddie and Buck's case). It's also interesting that when all four of them were younger they grew up in household were they were either ignored by their parents (Maddie, Buck and Chimney) or were overly criticized (Eddie as well as Chimney) by them. However, when Maddie met Chimney and Eddie met Buck, all four of them were completely enamored by each other and gave each other their time and attention. They really are the most important people in each other's lives. I really hope that at some point the showrunner and writers will just let Buck and Eddie be canon because it makes no sense that they aren't together. Especially when they continue to parallel canon couples such as Chimney and Maddie who started as friends like Buck and Eddie currently are.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #52: May and Ravi and Buck and Eddie (9-1-1)

Happy Friday, I only have this one 9-1-1 fandom thought:

- I'm happy that last night's episode of 9-1-1 wasn't another dumpster fire but I'm disappointed with how quickly and randomly they can put May Grant and Ravi Panikkar together. What I find so interesting is that the 9-1-1 Showrunner and writers showed just how easy it is to put a random straight couple (May and Ravi) together without them having any prior scenes together or any real build up. Meanwhile, fans have been asking and hoping for Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz for years. And instead of that happening, the Showrunner and writers do nothing more than twiddle their thumbs and make up excuses and bait fans instead of letting Buck and Eddie be together.

May and Ravi feel like when they don't know what to do with characters so they just put them together. It reminds me of what they did with Chloe Sullivan and Oliver Queen on Smallville and Malia Tate and Jordan Parrish in the Teen Wolf Movie. They were each single characters, so they just put them together, despite each couple having zero chemistry. It made absolutely no sense. And for 9-1-1, May who is a main character, has barely had a storyline in this ninth season and now she's being reduced to nothing more than a love interest. That's so disappointing. I would really like to know why it's so easy for two characters (May and Ravi) who have never had any interaction, can be put together so quickly? While two characters (Buck and Eddie) who have had years of bonding, a deep connection and chemistry, however can't be together?

Fandom Thoughts: 9-1-1's Ninth Season and Heated Rivalry

Happy Saturday! I had some fandom thoughts on my mind and wanted to share them. And here they are:

- What is going on with the writing on 9-1-1? Why does Henrietta "Hen" Wilson have to be written out of character to try to make this terrible storyline of her being sick and hiding it work? Which by the way, it didn't. It's definitely one way of ruining her character. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that Hen would have done any of the stuff the writers had her doing. And at this point, it truly feels like character assassination especially with her blaming others and lashing out at her best friend and now 118 Fire Captain Howard "Chimney" Han. I'm starting to wonder if the writers are using AI (which I hope not and it's just bad writing) to write this ninth season because so far this has been a very lackluster season with boring storylines and characters being out of character. I guess since they couldn't have any more repetitive storylines of Hen and her wife Dr. Karen Wilson either not being able to have a second child or have something dealing with their children. So, now it's a ridiculous storyline about Hen's out of character response to having a health issue.

Something I have no interest in is the writers most likely planning on giving Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz yet another random love interest this season. The same most likely for Evan "Buck" Buckley. I never understood why they just don't want to put Buck and Eddie together. It's kind of hilarious that this show has one of the most popular ships (albeit non-canon) and instead of seeing what the fans and viewers are seeing and enjoying. The Showrunner and writers would rather baits fans and viewers instead of actually putting them together. I guess it's more fun for them to bait fans but it's not fun for fans. Anyway, it looks like one if not both of them will probably be getting new random love interests. I would love to be proved wrong with the Showrunner and writers no longer baiting fans and they stop writing the same storylines over and over again and finally put Buck and Eddie together. But I'm not holding my breath for that.

- Something I hope that Heated Rivalry will showcase more of in the second season is Canada. This is a Canadian show and I want to see more of Canada especially since I've never been there. I know this show has a low budget and it doesn't look like it's changing, so maybe they can get creative with how they showcase Canada. Since Shane Hollander lives in Montréal and plays for the Montréal Metros, I want to see more of the city. And with Ilya Rozanov thinking of leaving the Boston Raiders to play for the Ottawa Centaurs, it would be cool to see more of the city of Ottawa. And with Ilya moving they will both be in Canada and it would be nice to see them going out and showing viewers more sites in both cities. I don't know, it's just when I think about Sex and the City, it truly made New York City a focus and almost like another character on the show. I just hope Heated Rivalry could add a little more essence of Canada to the show.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #49: 9-1-1's Ninth Season

Happy Fandom Friday, here are some of my not so happy fandom thoughts about 9-1-1:

- On 9-1-1, there was no reason to have killed of yet another beloved character. This time was Isabel Diaz, Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz's abuela (grandmother) in yesterday's episode Día de los Muertos (season 9 episode 5). The last time Isabel was shown was a blink and you'll miss her appearance at Maddie and Howard "Chimney" Han's hospital wedding in There Goes the Groom (season 7 episode 6). So, why bring her back just to kill her off? It's just doesn't make any sense, it's not as if Eddie wasn't already dealing with grief from the death of his wife Shannon and Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash now the writers are going to heap on more by killing off his abuela. And since the Showrunner and writers seem so happy to be killing of characters, who's next? Is it Henrietta "Hen" Wilson? Because in the trailer for next week's episode, she's dealing with what appears to be a serious health issue, so is she the next to die? Are there more characters that are going to be dying this season and onwards? Maybe firefighter Ravi Panikkar is next?

The show has a long list of characters to choose from, perhaps the writers will continue with family members. Maybe one of the kids is next: Denny or Mara Wilson, May or Harry Grant, Christopher Diaz or Jee-Yung or Robert Han? Or one or both of Maddie Han and her younger brother Evan "Buck" Buckley parents Margaret and Philip? Or one or both of Athena Grants' parents Beatrice and Samuel Carter or Athena's ex-husband Michael Grant? Or maybe either Bobby's mother Ann Hutchinson or brother Charlie Nash or both? Or Hen's wife Karen or her mother Toni Wilson? Or one or both of Eddie's parents Helena and Ramon Diaz or one or both of his sisters Sophia and Adriana Diaz or his tia Josephina "Pepa"? Or Chimney's father Sang or younger brother Albert or Chimney's surrogate parents Anne and John Lee? Or maybe they will go with someone from 9-1-1 Dispatch, such as Dispatch Manager Sue Blevins, Dispatch Supervisor Josh Russo, Linda Bates or Terry Flores? Or maybe someone in the Police Department such as Captain Elaine Maynard, Officers Williams and Branford or Detective Rick Romero? Or maybe just kill off characters the audience didn't like: Kameron and Connor Riley, Taylor Kelly, Fire Captain Vincent Gerrard, actor Brad Torrance, Eva Mathis, firefighters Lucy Donato, Jonah Greenway and Tommy Kinard or Marisol (no last name), to name a few.

As I said the list is endless. I just find the writing and the continued focus on death and pain is bringing down the show instead of allowing these characters to heal. The continuous grief this ninth season is really weighing down the show.



- What are the Showrunner and writers doing with Buck and Eddie this ninth season? They have them both being distant as well as giving them fewer scenes together. They no longer seem like best friends. Eddie is mostly in scenes with either Hen or Chimney while Buck is mostly with Ravi (with their scenes feeling forced to me). They are not there for each other like they should be. It really just feels like Eddie and Buck are shown as simply co-workers. And out of the few scenes Eddie and Buck have together, why have them argue. Is this a storyline that's going to lead somewhere good or are they simply just separating them and writing them as acquaintances instead of best friends?

It really feels like the separation is due to the Showrunner and writers baiting the fans last season with a potential romance between Buck and Eddie. And they don't want to go through with it. So now they are distancing them so than can most likely pair then with yet again more random love interests instead of with each other This show feels like it dying because the writing no longer makes sense. It just feels like the Showrunner and writers are doing everything out of spite and are actively trying to kill off not just Buck and Eddie's friendship/bond and connection but also this show. Other Showrunners have purposely killed off their shows in the past, so I wouldn't put it past the 9-1-1 Showrunner for trying to get the show cancelled. If the Showrunner and writers don't want to work for the show anymore than why not move on and let someone more skilled take on the roles. Because 9-1-1 is in desperate need of both a new Showrunner and writers.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #48: 9-1-1's Ninth Season

It's been a while since I've posted a Fandom Friday and here are some of my thoughts:

I have a few thoughts on 9-1-1, first is the dynamics for the ninth season feel so off after Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash was killed off last season. It really killed the dynamics and vibes of the show. For instance, I don't understand why the writers are trying so hard this season to make it seem like Evan "Buck" Buckley has a sibling connection with May and Harry Grant. Buck has never had any substantial scenes with May and Harry for them to be pushing this forced connection in the ninth season. I love May and Harry's sibling bond and they don't need Buck being forced into it. Buck might have had a sort of father and son bond with Bobby but he didn't have a sibling one with May and Harry. And not to mention Buck already has a sibling, his big sister Maddie Han (née Buckley). I think Buck being a mentor for Harry is okay even if seeing as Buck still needs to get his life in order. With that said, there was no need to force Buck in this sibling bond with May and Harry that was never there to begin with.

Second, the Showrunner and writers are back to separating fan favorite characters (and non-canon couple) Buck and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz. They are now back to working with the same co-workers they were temporarily paired with in the fifth season. Eddie is with Henrietta "Hen" Wilson as firefighter/paramedics and Buck is with Ravi Panikkar as the firefighter duo. In the sixth season, they also reduced Buck and Eddie's screen time together. And in both the fifth and sixth seasons, it was very noticeable how the viewers were not a fan of either decision. And it threw off the vibes of the show and the characters with them sharing very little screentime together. I've been seeing where many fans are saying that this ninth season separation is because after the writers baited Buck and Eddie's potential romantic possibility last season and don't seem to want to follow through with it, they are now just separating the characters. And unfortunately they will probably put them in relationships with yet again more random love interests than with each other. I guess I'll see how the season goes for Buck and Eddie.

Third, so far the season opening space emergency is kind of boring. It just feels like the writers have run out of ideas and figured they could just add in a big space emergency in hopes of making it interesting. It just doesn't feel like an emergency that should be on this show. Instead wouldn't a big fire emergency have been more interesting as the season opening emergency. Especially if it's not just one fire they are dealing with but several. I could see someone targeting buildings and setting them on fire. This storyline could have given Police Sergeant Athena Grant a mystery to solve as well as possibly working with Hen or Interim Captain Howard "Chimney" Han. I could also see Eddie and Buck deciding to separately investigate because they had an idea that no one really listened to. So they could have followed a different set of clues. A storyline like this could have kept the firefighters very busy trying to put out all these huge fires that someone kept setting.

Finally, my thoughts on Bobby. I just think it would have been better to have had him survive the contagion storyline in the eighth season and then have him retire. Because he could have been given the cure and survived but side effects left him with a few health issues that would make it difficult to be an active firefighter. And with Bobby retired he would have still been on the show but he could have been like Michael Grant was as a non-first responder but still a main character. And Chimney could have been promoted without the sad aspect of Bobby's death haunting at the current moment his Interim promotion. I hope Chimney will get to be the actual Captain of the 118 and not the writers bringing in some random character to be Captain instead. And with Bobby retired, him and his wife Athena could have enjoyed the new house that they had built and she wouldn't currently be sad and depressed and using work and this trip to space as a distraction for her grief.

Trailer: 9-1-1 Season 9 Teaser Trailer

I have a little bit of mixed feelings about this teaser trailer (and not just because of all the bad CGI), but how are they going to handle space debris falling from the sky. It will take more than just the 118 fire station to take care of that. In season one, 9-1-1 started out a bit more grounded then gradually started adding in more and more ridiculous stuff to the point that some fans have jokingly (and not so jokingly) dubbed it the Fast and Furious of first responder shows. Due to all the ridiculous and over the top stuff that goes on in this show. And now adding to that is what happened last season, where the Showrunner decided to add in some shock value to shake things up by unnecessarily killing off Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash. And now it feels like the show has to add in even more ridiculous stuff to counteract the loss of Bobby. I don't know maybe this ninth season will be good or it could be bad but I guess I won't know until the season airs.

One last thing, whether it was intentional or not, I find it interesting that this teaser only has two of some of the fan favorite couples, 9-1-1 Dispatch Operator Maddie and her husband Firefighter Howard "Chimney" Han and the non-canon couple Firefighters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley. So many fans continue to hope that Buck and Eddie will one day go canon and it would fantastic if it was in this ninth season.

Book of Interest: Big Name Fan

My love of mysteries continues with today's Book of Interest, Big Name Fan by Ruthie Knox and Annie Mare. The description for this totally caught my attention because who hasn't shipped characters hoping that they will go canon. And sometimes, they do. But most times they don't, especially if those non-canon ships are not straight. My favorite non-canon ship is 9-1-1 characters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, who have the ship name Buddie. They are definitely popular but that doesn't mean that the Showrunner and writers will ever put them together. So far on the show, Buck and Eddie continue to be put in relationships with random love interests than with each other. Maybe one day it will happen but we'll see.

Anyway, as soon as I read the description for Big Name Fan, I knew I had to read it. When two actresses, Bexley and Sam who used to star as fan favorite (and shipped) detectives on a popular procedural reunite for a rewatch podcast, they soon find themselves trying to solve a mystery. Which is the death of their friend Jen, who was a makeup artist on the show. Because was Jen murdered or was it simply a tragic accident? The desciption also makes it seem as if there may be romantic sparks between the actresses as they try to solve the mystery.

Big Name Fan feels like it a fun little nod to fans who just keep hoping that their favorite non-canon couples will get that chance to go canon while also trying to solve a mystery.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #47: Buck and Eddie

It's been a while since I've posted a Fandom Friday and here is my one little thought:

- I was thinking about the open house scene from the 9-1-1 episode Sob Stories (season 8 episode 9), it was when Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz was trying to find a subletter for his home. And throughout the scene, there were various people who were looking at the house. However, Eddie's best friend Evan "Buck" Buckley kept finding different ways to scare them all off. Buck did all of that because he didn't want Eddie to move to El Paso, TX. Something I was wondering is, did any of the potential subletters think those two were a couple? They were certainly acting like one. And not to mention, I wonder as those potential subletters were leaving, if they thought Eddie's "boyfriend" in the pink sweater was annoying. This was just a quick little fandom thought I had.

Most Memorable Scene: Eddie and Buck rescue a skydiving instructor (9-1-1)

I'm a fan of the big emergencies on 9-1-1 but I also really love a lot of the smaller ones as well such as this one from the episode Seize the Day (season 3 episode 11). Buck and Eddie were on top of a moving fire engine to resue a skydiving instructor who had gotten knocked out and was suspended in air by his parachut. They had get this rescue just right especially since the pilot needed to land the plane.

I also love the scene at the end when the mom ask if Eddie and Buck were single. My thing is why did they did they look at each other? They should know if they're single or not. Especially since at this point they were both single and not to mention they didn't even answer her question. It just makes it seem like they had a secret that they didn't want to share just yet.

Happy Valentine's Day! I love this artwork, it's so cute. And it makes me wish the 9-1-1 writers would make Eddie and Buck canon because I can't wait for them to have their first date.

Most Memorable Scene: Calendar Discussion and Eddie Diaz's Introduction (9-1-1)

I was thinking about this scene from the 9-1-1 episode Under Pressure (season 2 episode 1). Because while Buck, Hen, Bobby and Chimney were talking about the firefighter calendar (more on that later), Eddie was introduced. I couldn't get over how seriously Buck was taking being in this calendar and that he thought Chimney and Bobby had no chance of winning. Yeah, he's the quintessential "hot firefighter" that is usually picked for these type of calendars. However, Bobby and Chimney had just as much a chance as he did of getting picked. And just because Buck has that typical look, that doesn't mean that's the look that the calendar makers were necessarily looking for. Hence, the big surprise at the end of the episode and finding out who was actually picked.

I love that Hen pointed out that the calender upholds the stereotype that all firefighters are men. And just look at the title of the calendar, Hot Days, Smoldering Nights: Men of the LAFD, it could have just been called Hot Days, Smoldering Nights: Firefighters of the LAFD. Anyway, on to Eddie's introduction, I will never get over how it was shown from Buck's point of view. And that Eddie was introduced in a classic love interest way. From the slow pan of his body as he is putting on his shirt to playing the song "What a Man" by Salt-N-Pepa during the scene. There was absolutely no point in introducing Eddie from Buck's point of view in this way unless he was being presented as a future love interest. Which I hope will happen at some point soon.

I also can't get over Bobby saying Eddie likes to be called "eight pack". Because at no point in this show has Eddie ever been called that. It makes me think that Bobby was just making a joke, at least I hope he was.

This is really amazing. I love how bright and colorful it is and all the details to their uniforms. Now that 9-1-1 is on hiatus, I was thinking of either rewatching just the first half of the eighth season or rewatching the show from the beginning. 9-1-1 doesn't return until March 6, 2025.

There is something so special about Eddie and Buck's relationship. It's the closeness and intimacy they have with each other that's so much more than just friendship. I don't think it would be difficult for them to go from best friends to a romantic relationship. Which is why I will continue shipping them while also hoping that they will eventually get a chance to go canon. They are just perfect for each other.

Fandom Thoughts #6: Buck and Eddie (Battle of the Ships), The Mandalorian and Lana Lang (Smallville)

Happy Monday! Here are some of my Fandom Thoughts:

- Congratulations to 9-1-1 characters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley for winning first place in the Tell-Tale TV's Battle of the Ship. They won for the category Ship You'd Most Like to See Sail. I wrote more about Buck and Eddie's win in a post at Truly Outrageous Buck and Eddie.


- On Sunday, I rewatched the third season of The Mandalorian. I really love this show and it was so wonderful revisiting this season. I just love how the story was going for Din, Grogu and The Mandalorians. As well as seeing how the remnants of the Empire were still trying to hold on to power. This was just a good season and now I can't wait for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie which unfortunately will not be released until sometime in 2026.


- Over the weekend, I also rewatched a few episodes of Smallville. I was surprised that I found myself wondering if Lana Lang should of had a spinoff. Because as the series went on, her character seemed like it had outgrown the series. And you could tell the writers didn't know what to do with her character (the same thing with Chloe Sullivan who was not one of my favorite characters). Anyway, after Lana's final episode Requiem (season 8 episode 14), it would have been interesting following her character in a spinoff as she faced new challenges after she turned herself into a superhero.

I'm not a big fan of the Lana Lang character, there are very few versions of the character that I like. However, I like the Smallville version. Maybe I'll post my favorite (and possibly least favorite) versions of Lana in a separate post. Okay, back to what I was saying, I thought Lana's journey was something very interesting because I could see her using her new superpowers and abilities trying to help others. And not to mention Lana's superhero journey would be something very different to Clark Kent's who was at that point in the eighth season still in the process to becoming the superhero Superman we all know and love

Fashion Meets Fandom - Costume Analysis: Edmundo and Christopher Diaz and Evan Buckley

I would love the chance to ask the 9-1-1 Costume Designer the meaning behind the outfits that Edmundo "Eddie" and Christopher Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley wore in the seventh season finale episode All Fall Down (season 7 episode 10). These outfits, well more like the color choices really have me questioning the Costume Designer. Because the story they are telling with the colors in these outfits are interesting.

Look at Chris' red and yellow plaid shirt/jacket/hoodie, it's sort of a combination or a mix of his father Eddie's maroon (or burgundy) shirt and Buck's yellow ochre pants. It really gives them the appearance of being a family which I officially wish they were. It's just really interesting that these were the colors that the characters were put in. I also noticed that Chris' colors are very bright and vibrant which went well with his intense emotional state because he was mad at his father. While Eddie and Buck's colors are more dull and understated which goes perfectly since they were both sad that Chris was leaving with his grandparents to go back to El Paso, TX. (hopefully, just for the summer). I'm just interested by these color choices.
