Happy Friday, here are a few Fandom Thoughts that have been on my mind:
- I'm not liking the promotional direction that 9-1-1 social media is doing with promoting the show. Because for some reason they only seem to think that Evan "Buck" Buckley is the only character on the show and his storyline of getting a kid is the only one that matters. It's not a good look that only one character and his storyline is getting all the attention. With the way the promotion is going you would think it's The Buck Show and not the supposed ensembled show 9-1-1. Why are the other characters being sidelined on the social media accounts? I guess they are just following the direction or cues that the Showrunner and writers take with Buck getting so much screen time while sidelining the other characters and their stories.
And to add to that, the ABC social media account posted a terrible Father's Day post that barely included and acknowledged Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Howard "Chimney" Han but they had plenty of time to show Buck and not to mention his terrible father Phillip Buckley. It's bad enough the 9-1-1 writers decided to start the redemption train for Philip in the ninth season, but to include him in a Father's Day post was just too much. Which is why I won't be surprised if they continue that in the upcoming 10th season. It'll give Phillip and Buck more time to bond and even more so over the new kid that's been added on. And in that ABC Father's Day post they were already calling Buck the Best Dad when all he has done is foster the little boy. Meanwhile, Eddie and Chimney have been fathers for quite some time now (especially Eddie) to have their parental roles diminished in favor of Buck getting the praise for doing the bare minimum on screen.
The 9-1-1 social media accounts really need a new Social Media Manager that will focus on all the main and the kid characters and various storylines and not just on Buck and this new kid. They can't even pretend to care about the other characters and actors for too long before they go right back to posting about Buck and the new kid. It's really obvious how they are promoting this new kid compared to how they barely promote the other kids on the show. The new kid is really starting to feel like the new Cousin Oliver. How can you be the Social Media Manager for a show and only focus on one character and his storyline? This is ridiculous and so disappointing.
- To continue with 9-1-1, although I'm still not a fan of May Grant dating Ravi Panikkar (there was no build up to it, they were just put together without any effort), I am interested in seeing what the Showrunner and writers will do for May's story in the upcoming 10th season. She's now in nursing school and it would be nice to see how she does with studying to become a nurse and then her actually become one. I read that it usually takes from two to four years to become a nurse. But the writers have May in a 12 month accelerated program, so she'll probably be an active duty nurse by the time the season airs since there'll probably be a time jump as usual. It would have been nice to see May have a bit more time before actually becoming a nurse. But this is TV so they probably want to get to her becoming a nurse as soon as possible.

(9-1-1 season 9 episode 18: Hearts and Flowers)
- I watched the first two episodes of The Doomies and the show is off to a really good start with the portal being opened and the monsters trying to get Bobby. I love that Romy and Bobby are trying to expose all the supernatural stuff in their town. However, they are up against something really dangerous. This is such a fun and spooky little show that's both a Monster of the Week and has a intricate story that's just beginning to unfold. I will definitely be continuing with this show.
