In the 9-1-1 s10 Buck and Eddie Argument, Eddie was Right!

Last night's 9-1-1 episode Streets of Fire (season 10 episode 3) ending with Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley having an argument over Theo Riley, the little boy that Buck is fostering (and is also the donor kid he helped his friend conceive) wasn't unexpected. However Buck's negative reaction to Eddie's good advice was. And the fact that Buck threw a little jab at Eddie's parenting skills in the process. While also pretty much telling him to go with the comment "Eddie you know where the door is". I completely agree with Eddie that Theo needs discipline because that little boy is running wild and truly in need of parental guidance. Eddie wasn't suggesting that Buck be mean or overly strict or for Theo to not have fun, he just wanted Buck to actually parent Theo. You don't sign up to be a foster parent to not parent. This isn't about Buck, this is about what Theo needs. And Theo needs a parent and not a friend which Buck was sort of referring to himself as. Buck has been fostering Theo for several months and he hasn't provided the discipline and shown him the boundaries that he needs.

I can't forget that Buck's house is a total mess, is he not cleaning up after Theo has fun. There were toys and stuff all over the living room (picture below) and kitchen, I wouldn't be surprised if Theo's bedroom is the same. Back in the fourth season when Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and her wife Dr. Karen Wilson were fostering Nia, they received surprise home visits from the social worker. Why does it feel like this isn't happening for Buck because his house would not be this messy otherwise. He really should have thought the decision to foster Theo through before he impulsively made that decision in the ninth season finale. He made that decision after talking to Harry Grant, an 18/19 year old during the birthday party for Howard "Chimney" Han and Maddie Han (nee Buckley)'s one year old son Robert. Buck felt left out that he didn't have a kid and Harry's comments cemented that fact.

I don't think at the end of the ninth season Buck should have fostered Theo, that should have happened in the 10th season. For example, he couldn't stop thinking about Theo and wondering how he was doing in foster care. And then once he realized where Theo was staying wasn't quite the best, he then decided to foster him. So, then he would have been a lot more prepared to become a foster parent. But what's done is done, the Showrunner and writers were so set on this storyline they had Buck being impulsive yet again. And now he is truly in over his head and when he received good advice, he lashed out. I hope Buck will apologize to Eddie who again was right. Because so far, Eddie is the only one that has noticed and tried to help. However, all he got back for his effort was an insult about his parenting skills. I guess I'll see how this story will progress and see how Eddie and Buck will repair their friendship. If this was any other show with a different Showrunner this would eventually lead to Buck and Eddie getting together. But it most likely won't happen.
