Entertainment News #42: Hallmark, Interview with the Vampire and Percy Jackson

Here are a few evening news bits:

- The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel will get a new name. It will be changed simply to Hallmark Mystery. The new change will debut Friday, March 6th. The popular mystery movie The Cases of Mystery Lane starring Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell will be getting a sequel titled Death is Listening. I really enjoyed the first movie and I can't wait to see this upcoming sequel.

- The second season of an Interview with the Vampire will premiere on Sunday, May 12 on AMC. This show has been on my watch list, maybe I'll start watching it this weekend. I also want to read the book of the same name that was written by the now late Anne Rice.

- Disney Plus has renewed Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a second season. That's good because although I'm enjoying the show (I still have to watch the last two episodes), the show had pacing issues. Some scenes were moving a just a little too slow which is something that could be easily fixed in the next season. And also maybe have Percy have little more energy and personality, he appears rather dull and boring at times. Regardless, I'm happy the show was renewed.

Entertainment News #39: Cancelled Shows: Station 19, Good Trouble and more

- ABC is cancelling Station 19, the upcoming seventh season will be the final season of the show. It's disappointing to hear because this is a good show filled with plenty of drama to go with all the emergencies. I really hope the show didn't get cancelled because ABC brought over a third first responder show, 9-1-1 (it was saved after it was cancelled by FOX). ABC already has The Rookie another popular first responder show, so it will be interesting to know why Station 19 was cancelled? Funny enough all three shows will celebrate reaching 100 episodes, too bad it will be Station 19's final season.

Edit: To add that fans of Station 19 have created a petition to save the show, here's the link if you would like to sign. There is already over 11,000 signatures and counting. The fans have also been speaking out and showing their continued support for the show on various social media. It will be interesting to see if they can save the show.

- And there are more cancelled shows to add to the continuous growing list. Freeform has cancelled Good Trouble (after five seasons) and Cruel Summer (after two seasons). Good Trouble will return for the second half of the fifth season on January 2nd. Cruel Summer's second season ended back in July and will now serve as the show's series finale. AMC has cancelled Lucky Hank after one season. The show premiered on March 19th with an eight episode season. And now the first season finale will also serve as the show's series finale.

Teaser Trailers: The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

I'm little behind with watching The Walking Dead but I'm going to try to get caught up before the new series airs, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The show which will center around the popular and fan favorite characters Rick Grimes and Michonne will air in February 2024 on AMC. The teaser trailers don't show much but just enough to spark a lot of interest. I'm really looking forward to seeing this.

Hiatus Watch: Dark Winds season 2

No surprise I missed the second season premiere of Dark Winds because I haven't seen any promotion or advertisement. The second season premiered yesterday (Sunday, July 30th) on AMC and if I didn't already have the DVR set to record the series, I would have never known it was airing. So I was surprised to see the new episode in my saved recording that's for sure. Later today, I'm going to watch the first episode of the season.

The first season was so good, it's one of those shows that I couldn't wait to see the next episode. And I'm hoping the season two will be just as good. So for anyone like myself who didn't know the new season started nor have seen the trailer, it's included below.

Still searching for something to watch during Hiatus Season? Here is another new TV series, Dark Winds you might want to watch. The show premieres tonight on AMC and from looking at the trailer I think it's a supernatural mystery series. Whether it's supernatural stuff happening or not, it still seems interesting.
