Book Review: Gate-Way: A New World

Book: Gate-Way: A New World by Joe Halpin Sr. with illustrations by Juanfrancisco Moyano

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication: Available now

Description:

In a surreal setting where a red sky burns bright and the blanket of night brings a terror known only as the Dark Souls, ex-cop Jake Ryan struggles to make sense of his surroundings.

Gate-Way is a story that weaves a rich tapestry of loyalty, lust, intrigue, and betrayal as beggars, thieves, priests, and murderers all vie for power in a world that rewards the bold and enslaves the weak!

Rating: 2 stars

Review:

This was okay, it's a cross between those post apocalyptic and ghost/crossing over stories. I was bored with this story.

The story follows Jake Ryan an undercover cop who was working a drug bust but the situation turned deadly. The next thing Jake knows is that he is waking up some place completely different.

He was greeted by the "police" who took him to Hopetown but Jake had no plans of staying there because he thought the officials were not giving them the whole story. He felt like there was more going on than they were telling them. He was also trying to find out if his brother was there in the afterlife.

There are other groups of people (or souls or ghosts) around and other group of people who may or may not be some sort of zombie like being.

This was a little too grim and boring for me.
