It's a chilly start to the day but Happy Comic Book Wednesday!

This time I have quite a few books on my list from Archie to Thor, I'm sure to find some good stories (well, at least I hope so). What books are you getting?

Comic Book Wednesday: August 18th Picks

Happy Comic Book Wednesday!

Did you know it was Lois Lane's birthday yesterday? Yeah, I can't believe I forgot especially since she's one of my favorite characters. Do you have a favorite version of the character? There are probably a couple of Lois' that are not my favorite but overall I like reading or seeing different versions of the character. One of my current favorite versions is from Superman & Lois. She may be living in Smallville instead of Metropolis with her husband and kids but she's still one of the best reporters around.

Anyway, what books are you getting today? I only have a few books on my list: Star Wars, Iron Man and Miles Morales. So, when I go to the comic book store, I might see what other books I might find.

I don't know what it is about summer days and reading comics. There's this wonderfully relaxing feeling from doing nothing except sitting down reading comics especially outside while I'm drinking a iced tea or really cold water.

Comic Book Wednesday: July 7th Picks

I don't understand why there is still this misconception that comics are not real books especially in regards to kids reading them. Comics are just a different form of story telling but that doesn't change the fact that they are indeed real books. I've seen where some parents and teachers don't like the idea of kids reading comics (or graphic novels) but I don't see the problem because these types of books are no different from any other.

I think it's a good thing and it encourages children to read especially stories that interest them. Parents and teachers also shouldn't worry about anything being inappropriate because there are so many comics and graphic novels for young readers. Most comic book stores, book stores and libraries have a pretty good selection of children and middle grade reader comic and graphic novels to choose from.

Well, all that aside, what books are you getting today? Not much on the list this week, just two books: Star Wars and Thor & Loki. I hope my fellow comic book readers will find some good books today. Happy Comic Book Wednesday!

Why do you love reading comic books? I love reading comics because I get to see my favorite characters written in so many different stories. However, the downside is some of the stories are not always well written or have good art. But that's the chance you take when you start reading comics.

It looks really interesting as it follows a group of ghost hunters trying to find proof that they exist. The other book on my list is Star Wars Adventures which has a story about Wookies celebrating Life Day.

Comic Book Wednesday: December 23rd Picks

It's the Comic Book Wednesday before Christmas and what's something comic book related you wish you could have as a gift? I would love it, if DC Comics re-published every issue of Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane in the trade edition. I think that would be a wonderful gift to us Lois Lane fans if this happened.

As for something that does exist, I wouldn't mind getting seasons 2-4 of Static Shock. I have been planning to get the last three seasons on DVD but never got around to it. So I may have to gift this to myself at some point.

Now for my weekly comics, I only have four books on my list this time but I do have Star Wars Adventures which has a story about Han Solo and Chewbacca which should be an interesting read. So, what books do you have on your list?

Comic Book Wednesday: October 7th Picks

Happy Comic Book Wednesday!

It's been a while since I've posted one of these and I'm feeling a little rusty trying to get back into writing about new comics. Well, what new books are you getting? I don't have a lot on my list just four books. From a Halloween Archie comic to Thor, they're books I can't wait to read.

Make sure when you go to the comic book store to wear a mask and social distance. And don't forget to wash your hands when you get home.

Book News: Lucasfilm to publish new Star Wars: The High Republic books

On Monday (Feb. 24th), Disney and Lucasfilm unveiled its next ambitious publishing project, Star Wars: The High Republic. The new stories will explore the galaxy 200 years before the Skywalker Saga and will focus on the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order which were at peace. However, there is something that will of course ruin that era of peace which I'm sure it will be explored in The High Republic.

With this not being connected to any of the current or legacy characters I wonder if The High Republic will be an easy or hard sale to get Star Wars fans (casual and die hard) interested in this project. Speaking of legacy characters, I wonder if Jedi Master Yoda will be featured at least in some small part because he was 900 years old before he died in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. I really can't see not including him.

Comic Book Wednesday: April 24th Pick

I really wish comic books (and books in general) were promoted more. I know that if you don't actively seek out books, you rarely see any being advertised.

I don't understand why Marvel hasn't released commercials promoting Avengers comic books or comics of some of the many characters in the Avengers: Endgame movie. And DC Comics should be doing the same to promote the comic books of their characters in their movies and TV shows. It's such a wasted opportunity not to try to get more readers.

Anyway, what comics are you picking up this week? I only have seven books on this week's list with two new ones: Jughead: The Hunger versus Vampironica and Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Extreme Ghostbusters. When I go to the comic book store, I might see if there is anything else that I might want to read.

Comic Book Wednesday: April 17th Picks

Happy Comic Book Wednesday!

Did you guys see Shazam!? I really liked it, however, I'm not sure it's for little kids but that's up to their parents to decide. I think teens and older is probably the best audience for seeing it. 

We have another big comic book movie out next week, Avengers: Endgame. I'm sure tickets are already sold out for the opening weekend, so I'll plan on going either sometime during the week or the following weekend. 

Well moving on to comic books, is this not the best day to buy new comics or old ones? I really don't have a lot on my list but I do have something new: Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Answer the Call.

It's Comic Book Wednesday and this week is a little light on book picks but I did add something new, the Jem and the Holograms special issue. Also new, is Buffy the Vampire Slayer but it's not on my list because I'm going to wait to read the trade edition.

I love comic books and it's been amazing reading so many different ones over the years and seeing which books succeed or become fan favorites. I'm always genuinely excited see what new books are released as well as finding old books that I have never read.

To anyone interested or thinking about reading comics, don't worry about knowing where to start just find a book (or character) that interest you. I certainly didn't start reading comics from the first issue but with more comics collected in a trade edition that might be an easier option for some new readers or for anyone who doesn't have a local comic book store.
