I feel like DC Comics is doing everything they can to erase Lois Lane. They've stuck her in a desk job, diminished her role in the comics and now are no longer even interested in her dating Clark Kent/Superman. How much longer will Lois Lane be downplayed in the New 52?
I would have loved to have seen Wonder Woman date Steve Trevor in the New 52 but I guess that's probably not going to happen. Especially since the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman is status quo according to the execs over at DC. With the way Wonder Woman has been described as the "Sexy Sidekick", will she be known for anything else other than Superman's girlfriend?
I also would have loved seeing a fresh take on Clark trying to date Lois. I would have liked seeing them trying to get to know each other but with Lois' promotion the interaction is quite limited. As of now the Smallville Season 11 comic is the only comic that features Lois and Clark together.
I have always felt like Superman and Wonder Woman were just good friends. The image on the cover of the #12 issue of Justice League feels stale. It looks very similar to the image between Superman and Lois in the Superman For Tomorrow comic (see picture below). I wonder why Jim Lee couldn't have drawn something truly new if this is supposed to be a new start. Why rehash an old picture or is Lois Lane just that interchangeable?
As a fan of both Lois Lane and Wonder Woman it's sad to see DC Comics treating one character as if she's useless and exploiting the other just for sales. I would have hoped that with two truly amazing characters they would have been treated much better than the way they are currently being handled.
I feel like this is another one of DC Comics gimmicks, they've had so many since the reboot. It just feels tiresome instead of new and exciting.
