I thought it was rather cool when Bruce gave his son a hug in Red Robin #17. Not to mention he had a genuine smile on his face. Seeing as Tim was the only one who believed whole heartedly that Bruce was still alive (he was trapped in time) that this long awaited hug was perfect.
Now moments like this are rare or non-existent in the new 52. The BatFamily rarely show that they even care about each other and I'm not sure what the writers are trying to create but it's shown as if the characters just don't really care for one another. Which is a shame because prior to the reboot, the BatFamily were like an actual family. Now they are like strangers.
