Book: Klarion #1 by Ann Nocenti with illustration by Trevor McCarthy and color by Guy Major
Rating: 1 star
Review:
I feel like I wasted my time and money reading this poorly written awful book. Klarion finally makes his way to the New 52 and this is what they give us. A dull and boring so called mystical book that has Klarion turned into the latest emo teen character.
There is nothing really going on in this story, Klarion decides to leave magical school then heads to Earth where he first stops a teenage boy Rasp from being beaten up by a couple of guys. Then finds a job, a place to live then befriends Zell, a teenage girl who is also a friend of Rasp. The two concoct a plan to try to stop Rasp from taking revenge against the guys who attacked him. Which resulted with Rasp and Klarion fighting over Zell. Yawn, how cliché.
I can't say enough how bad this was, both the writing and the dialogue were awful and the artwork wasn't even that great. This is a dry, slow moving story that makes absolutely no sense. And I don't think I will be reading anything more from this series.
I feel like this must be another one of DC Comics ploy to reach their new target market: teenage girls. Because this reads like something out a poorly written Young Adult novel.
What a waste this book was. This first issue should have been so much better than this.
