Agent Carter Deserves A Second Season

Marvel's Agent Carter surprised me because it was one of the best superhero shows I've seen in quite a while. I have long since abandoned all the other shows (Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Constantine) but Agent Carter kept me interested with each episode.

The show was different and more grown up, plus it wasn't saddled with doing the same old predictable things that other superhero shows are used to doing. Hayley Atwell and the entire cast of Agent Carter did a wonderful job and every scene showed that.

So far there has not been any announcement of a second season. I can't understand the reason for the slow decision making since the extremely lackluster and subpar Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had received a second season even while the first season wasn't fairing too well with viewers.

Peggy showed that you don't need superpowers to be a hero, she's intelligent and above and beyond brave. Simple enough she kicks butt. The S.S.R didn't appreciate her skills or intelligence mainly due to the sexism of the times but she didn't let that stop her from doing what she had to do. Unlike other shows set during this time period that glorify those misogynistic times, Agent Carter fought against the system in her own way. She refused to be the "secretary" when she was a full fledged agent.  Even when she was overlooked for assignments that concerned Howard Stark, she took the initiative to try to clear Stark's name on her own.

But this show is so much more than Peggy overcoming sexism, this is a smart, exciting and well written action packed show. Those eight episodes of Agent Carter were amazing and it's so easy to see why this show should get a second season. I just hope ABC realizes that.
